In my four years being in Cheetahville I have never met a better guy than Brandon. Being on the field and getting to know these guys a little Brandon stood out the most. Unlike some of the players he apreicated the hard work that the ground crew put in even as we struggle to keep the field playable. He was never a guy who come and tells how the field looked horrible and try to tell us what to do. But he always came to say hi and ask how things were going. And by far he was a damn good outfielder. Well good luck Polly.

Well it is a sad day in Cheetahville with the announcement of probably the best player that has played for the Cheetahs over the past 4 years.

I had the pleasure to watch Brandon play in 1999 and 2000 and I must say I have not seen a player play with so much passion and love for the game, he was a very exciting player.

He was also a great guy of the field. He always had time for the fans which is something that most of the players these days tend to forget.

I must say that I wonder why a player of his talent( Cheetahs MVP and Frontier League All-star) was not used as much as he should have been?

I think the on field manager has made a huge mistake by not playing him and he will be missed by all the Cheetah faithful.

Good Luck for the future Polly.

It is indeed a sad day for me to learn of Brandon's retiring. Brandon is such a great guy and player. I wish Brandon & Michelle all the best in the world. I'm sorry I probably won't get to say goodbye to them personally, but Brandon & Michelle I wish you two the best, and if you ever want to drop me an email, or give me a call, feel free I'd love to keep in touch with both of you in the future.

You will be missed

Fans,

Though I hadn't known Brandon from his previous time with the Cheetahs, I was well aware of his reputation as a good man and a good player long before he came to camp with the team. From the day I started my time here in January, fans had asked if Brandon was coming back - very rare in independent baseball, especially for a player who was not with us last year. That showed me how well-regarded Brandon is with our fans.

Everything he's done since the day I met him has proven that his reputation is well deserved. He is a steadying influence on a team that's been through a lot of on-field and coaching changes, and has been a leader by example when it comes to work ethic and professionalism.

The Cheetahs will thank Brandon in many ways, publicly and privately, for his service to the team and for what he has meant to the organization. We just wanted to make sure that here, where the fans come to talk about their team, that everyone knows that we in the front office realize what a special person Brandon is, and that he will be missed in Crestwood.

I think the Cheetahs should retire Cheetah Jersey #11 to honor Brandon and his terrific efforts with the team in his many years with the Cheetahs. Its just ashame that team management didn't utilize his skills as much as they should have this year, I think that is what prompted Brandon to retire. Lack of being able to play and lack of scouts being able to see him for a possible contract for an affiliated team. He really gave everything he had 110% to the team.

Management:
What do you say about retiring Jersey #11??
Nobody will be able to fill that #11 Jersey like Brandon. He's a wonderful man, and its such ashame to see him go. Management should be ashamed for not utilizing his talents.

How about Brandon coming back as Manager or Coach next year? He's an integral part of Cheetah history.

Brandon: I wish you the best life can bring, and I hope to see you in the Majors someday, I know you've got what it takes, its ashame team management didn't see that too, its definately their loss. If you read these boards, I'd love to know what your next plans are if you will continue to play ball in Australia so that we can follow you from the web. Good Luck in your baseball career, you certainly deserve it.

Dear Cheetah Fans,

Unfortunately Brandon retired because he was not getting enough game time. His love for the game will always remain and he wishes all the best for his team mates.

Brandon will definately be missed by alot of people because of his awesome baseball ability and a personality that kept the team in high spirits.

He will make a wonderful Manager/Coach one day in either Australia or the USA.

WE LOVE YOU BRANDON!

Michelle

Brandon's Parents,

You should be very proud of your son, he is a fine individual. I have spoken to him on numerous occasions and feel he is nothing but classy. Good luck to him in his future pursuits.

After much thought I have decided to make this post.
I have been a season ticket holder ever since the stadium opened here in Cook county. Over the years I have seen players come and go, some of their own will, some released and some happily signed to an affiliate team.
Many times a player who is released never understands that it's a business even at this level and becomes irate sometimes to the extent of "Badmouthing" the Cheetah organization for their decision. I have known, not on a personal level, but as a steady fan a number of the players over these years. I have heard their complaints and comments in the stands even as the team plays a game. The reason for my comments is because during the first 2 games of the last homestand I had the pleasure of sitting with Brandon Pollard who retired from the team and left to go back home on this past Sunday. His decision to retire was based on the fact he loves to play the game and saw he was not going to get the chance to play regularly for the Cheetahs. This is not a swipe at the Cheetah organization or current management, it's just the nature of the game.
Brandon was a fan favorite, who most fans had seen play as an ALL STAR and team MVP in previous years. What really set Brandon apart from previous players who left was he did so with style and class. While he sat watching the team he once played for, fans approached asking for autographs and wanting to talk. Brandon was the perfect professional always taking the time to sign and most notably not taking a stab at the Cheetah's management or team. He had every oportunity to tell everyone how he was "done wrong", but took the high road in accepting it was just time.
As the games went on he would point out how hard a player was working on his fielding or when at bat how a player had been working so hard on taking the ball to the opposite field, all the while rooting for the Cheetahs.
While fans cheered and booed around him as to the happenings on the field all Brandon did was Cheer, never gloating over a mistake by his former team.

TO BRANDON'S PARENTS I would like to say The Cheetah organization lost a GOOD baseball player when he retired, but much more importantly they lost a CLASS individual when he left and Cheetah fans will not soon forget him.

Brandon was the best player out there and it is a shame he had to retire.Maybe if he stayed we might have made the playoffs.

Maybe the Cheetah's management will give him a chance to reture as manager. I think he would he great.

Go Cheetahs
