Please don’t take this as a bashing post. I just want to set the record straight.

I was recently informed that a comment was made by judges after judging my daughter and another girl that they didn’t agree with a 16 year old having a new car and that they pretty much consider them spoiled brats.

I’m sorry but I must take offense at this. Yes my daughter has a 2008 Mazda and the other girl apparently has a new mustang. But you know what, if they would have read her bio a little closer they might realize that she just might deserve it. She is a banner roll student, captain of the dance line at her high school, also takes dance lessons 4 days a week after school and teaches elementary aged kids dancing at a dance studio 3 days a week. And on Saturdays she is either working at a dress shop or traveling to pageants and festivals. Her only free day is Sunday. So do I think my daughter deserves a new car? YES!!!! What parent, if they could afford it, wouldn’t want to buy their daughter a new car so that they wouldn’t have to worry about it breaking down when she is traveling to school and work, oh and traveling all over the state of Louisiana representing her title.

So the next time you judge someone, take a closer look at who they really are. And try not to hold them to old fashioned standards. Who knows, you just might find a hard working teenager that will do a great job representing the festival you are judging for.

Thank you!!
