A lot of youthful ladies today look at beauty pageants and try to live up to those standards. Just like thousands of youthful teen girls look to magazines, celebrities and other sources to decipher as to which is ok and what a body should glance like. It is crazy the things that some young women could do to try and fit into a sure mold. And how will these folks realize doing so? Is it to starve, wear more make-up or even consider skin care surgery? Unfortunately in a lot of pageants nowadays beauty, thinness and talent can finally get a tad bit exploited. What could women do to get the following beauty queen, and at which cost?
There’s pressure all over the place these young women turn to be far more gorgeous and thinner. A lot of the young ladies in nationwide pageants are sporting pageant gowns that are size 0-2 regardless of their height. Is that too small? In our society 15% of young women have some kind of disordered eating patterns. (Random House). It has been reported that Miss America 2008 is a recovering anorexic. She alledgedly suffered as a teen and struggled through high school. Her platform issue is on eating disorders. If 1% of female adolescence has anorexia that means 1 out of every 100 young women between the ages of 10 and 20 are starving themselves to death. Some people feel that beauty pageants are guilty because of what they promote. Lets be honest. It just does not make sense to starve yourself to try and fit into some of these tiny designer dresses just for a pageant. And in some cases that is what it looks like. That is why many feel that striving to be a beauty queen is a danger to the physical and mental health of our young girls today. Others (especially those in the pageant industry) more so feel that it is not all girls but just those who had poor self esteem to begin with – hence why they entered a beauty pageant to help raise that self esteem. Is it the industry or is it the particular person. Some think that irrespective of if a female is in a pageant or not…if you possess a dysfunction it is going to appear out one way or the various. Who is to say?
But there have been research completed to point out which nine out of ten women age 14 and 15 declare to have suffered depression symptoms with 6% saying existence simply is not really worth living.
