My best friend's grandfather had a paddle that had been in his family for generations going back to his great, great grandfather. The summer I was 13, I unfortunately earned the honor of being the only non-family member to be spanked with it. My best friend and I had been caught smoking, as well as, selling cigarettes to other kids our age, and we had also been defiant and disrespectful despite many warnings to change our behavior. Our parents decided to put an end to our delinquent streak by giving us a consequence we wouldn’t soon forget. When my friend’s grandfather heard that his grandson along with his best friend was in need of correction he offered our dads the use of his relic oak paddle along with the accommodations of his woodshed. Both dads accepted his suggestion and the timeless paddle was officially handed down to my friend’s father. The next day my friend and I were taken over his grandfather's woodshed so the heirloom paddle could be put to use on our bare bottoms. It was very embarrassing having to walk out to the woodshed in front of my friend’s grandparents, aunt and uncle, and my friend’s female cousin who was our age with all of them knowing that we would both be lowering our trousers for a well deserved paddling. On the way to the shed I was grateful that they wouldn’t be seeing our punishment, but at the same time I realized that everyone would be able to hear our spankings through the small open windows and thin walls of the woodshed. As I walked into the shed with my friend followed by our dads and the grandfather and heard the door shut, I was sincerely hoping that it was all just a bad dream and that I would wake up, but that didn’t happen.
A little while later with our trousers back up and our bottoms still ablaze, the woodshed door opened and out came two embarrassed crying boys who were very willing to quit smoking and more than ready to become obedient and respectful.
