I wanted to say thank you for all the great things you did Grace! All The girls had so much fun, It was a great pageant and the parade was alot of fun. I had a terific time watching my niece compete! Her mom gave me this board and I wanted to pesonally congratulate you and all the people who made the pageant for the girls.

I understand that their has been a particular mom making comments about the pageant, not in a good way. Being a bystander and not personally having interest vested in the pageant I do want to say that the pageant was wonderful.

Please do not let one Poor sport ruin something so good.

One persons negativity does not determine the outcome.

Watching the TV when it aires might shed some light on the performance of the child and maybe then the mother will see what the judges saw.

Regardless or not if the child won the mother still would have caused you difficulties. It was not right of her to call anyone and try to stir up more problems for you or anyone else.

The town of Milton was able to see these beautiful ladies Saturday in the parade. It was a joy seeing all these little girls with crowns and sashes proudly waving to the community! It was a sight to remember. Hats off to you for such a great float and what all you did for my niece and all the other girls!

My niece stated she is going to do it again next year! Win or loose they all felt like little princesses!

There was enough negativity night of the pageant that it does not need to be brought here to continue on! It is one or two moms not the group!

NEW START, NEW BEGINNINGS!

The contestants were all beautiful, talented and showed great sportsmanship! We had a great bunch of girls and parents. I am very excited to have them represent Milton in the parade on Saturday! The girls had fun, all felt like winners and that is the most important thing!

Do you think they are as upset as the parents NO!!!!

I saw these beautiful girls all smiling, clapping and displaying positive behaviors! Lets live by their examples!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU! YOU ALL ARE WINNERS IN MY EYES!

I wanted to say congrats to my little Blondie! You did awesome baby! Grand mom and Pappy Love you to pieces!

You did not win the big crown this year, but I know you'll be practicing hard for next year.

Congratulations to all the girls you did wonderful. It was exciting and funwatching all of you on stage.

I can tell each of you really worked to get ready for the show. I was having so much fun just sitting thereand watching each one of you.

To Mrs James and her helpers I would like to say I have watched the Harvest Festival pageant for years, eager to see my grandchildren participate and become apart of it. I am so thankful we waited until this year. What a great job you did. I was truly impressed with the decor, professionalism of the night, the smoothness of the show and just the overall outcome. My grandaughter may not have won however she is walking around with that tiara and sash like she is the winner.

I would like to thank your staff , I know you must have put in countless hours preparing for their big night.

Looking forward to next year! Thumbs up for a great production!

Milton needed this!

I just want to thank everyone who helped make this a wonderful mother and daughter event. Life goes by so fast you forget how much fun it is to do special things with your children. The girls had a wonderful time as well as myself. Jessica is on top of the World, and Elissa is already excited about doing it again next year. Thanks again the Franquet Girls.

First I would like to say thank you to everyboy that helped make this pageant a success,my daughter had a great time. After reading the board and seeing how some events unfolded at the pageant I am deeply concerned and heres why:
1.We are teaching a whole generation on how to be sore losers by some of the actions displayed by adults and the knit picking after the fact (ie..spaghetti straps(not in rule book)make-up..props the list goes on and on.
2.The fact is we are judged everyday of our lives by people we know and people we don't, by employers..colleges will judge their grades..judgement is a part of life sometimes life isn't always fair, but like i tell my daughter fair is where you ride rides an eat popcorn. It is how you handle yourself in these situations that make you a winner in life.

3.Please show by example how to handle adversity with dignity that will get them alot further in life than throwing a fit everytime something doesn't go thier way.

First of all we would like to tell all the girls they did a wonderful job and were all troopers with it being such a long evening for them!!!!

We would also like to thank everyone for being so supportive and patient with Kiflyn and her stage fright!! She didnt do her talent but she took a big step foward!!! We are very proud of her!!! She was so happy when she would come off stage and get high fives from everyone!! Thank you all for helping her feel more comfortable!!

The ideas sound good for next year!

Also a long time ago they use to have the younger kids come out together and do the same dance, or song which ever they would teach them. They would still do the intro and question. This way it saved on time and also the family members didnt have to sit there and wait through all the other talents, because each age group came out together. Just a thought... ; )

Kiflyn cant wait to see everyone on Sat!!!

Thanks Again!!

I am just extending my thanks to everyone that help run this event run so smoothly. Above all else I would like to extend special thanks to Grace and Jamila's big sister, Stephanie Martello. Without you both and the support and compliments of family, friends, and other contestants this year...she just would not have been comfortable. She started out so nervous and look at how wonderful she turned out last night. It was a proud moment for everyone...but it was such an extreme joy to see Jamila so proud of herself for overcoming her stage fright. All of the girls did a wonderful job last night and all were truly princesses, even before they got their crowns and sashes.

Here are my suggestions for next year:

If there are going to be this many contestants and categories divide it up over different days.

High School Pageant on a Friday night or
Do the Little and Junior Miss on a Saturday Afternoon and big girls that same Saturday evening.

Then have Mini and Dainty Miss on a Sunday Afternoon.

This helps shorten all the time that it took monday night. Also allows parents to come for a more specific category instead of sitting through so many different performances.

Backstage there is a band room right next to the chorus room that we used monday night. Maybe talk to the school and see if we can use both rooms for more space.

A lot of people were telling me there was too much repetition. The girls information was read to the audience during introduction and then again during question and answer. Maybe only introduce all the contestants and their information in the beginning so the girls dont have to be on stage so long for question and answer.

I think also every girl should be asked a different question appropriate for their age group. A lot of the little girls were answering the same question, because they were behind the curtain hearing what the contestant in front of them said. That didn't make it very fair to the first little girl who had to answer without hearing someone elses response to guide her.

Definetly some great ideas and suggestions! Keep them coming!

Thanks for all your ideas to make this better!

Working on SUNDAY afternoon.

We could possibly do younger ones at 1pm , then start older ones at 3pm?

That way we would get the younger ones done faster and the older ones still get to bed at a decent hour!

Questions for the Question/Answer segment I had the same for each age group to make it even. It is very hard to come up with questions that are not to hard or to easy for the age groups. As in the past a question might win/loose it for a contestant. Parents have complained in the past that one contestant was asked What is your favorite color and another one asked what is your favorite movie, then another what do you want to be when you grow up.

Differant questions let open a wider range of scoring for the judges to oionterpet WHO really did answer the question the best. Hard when they are asked differant questions.

First I would like to congratulate all the girls on a very successful pageant! The girls were beautiful and truly shinned on stage. It was a pleasure working with them and watching them grow so much in the practices.

The pageant had some minor details that we will work on for next year. First off being the time contingency, we will hopefully be changing this to a Sunday afternoon pageant. I want to apologize to everyone that it ran so late. I assure you this will not happen again.

Second the confusion with the Mics. There were no headsets available and only one mic lapel to use. We will work on getting that corrected through the school for next year. All in all everything went smoothly.

I appreciate all the help from our stage moms without these ladies the pageant would not have run so smoothly. As always back behind the scenes is always hectic, however from the audience view it went to perfection. Thank you for taking charge and making it a great night for everyone!

Thank you to the Princess candidates for all your work at rehearsals as well as last night. I apologize that it took so long.

Finally thank you moms and dads who were patient, kind, helpful and displaying positive sportsmanship. It was great having you there supporting one another and making sure the pageant was for the girls! I am very grateful for the numerous e-mails and phone calls from all of you for your support and compliments. I am also grateful for all your suggestions and ideas to help better the pageant for next year!

I cannot wait to get started on next year’s pageant and have as many of your beautiful and talented girls back! We are always looking for committee members (Hint Hint)

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR MY PLANTER AND FLOWERS! THEY ARE GORGEOUS!

Grace and everyone who helped I don't know all of your names Jo-Ellen, Sara and everyone who helped put this wonderful pageant together. Mackenzie had such a wonderful time, she is happy that she won however she is a winner in my eyes everyday a crown is just a little extra, Mackenzie couldn't have done this without the support of everyone involved. Thanks so much for the patience that you all have and how well you work with children. Grace I look forward to working with you during the next year and thereafter. I just don't know what else to say except THANK YOU, you really made my daughter feel like a real princess last night.

Some suggestions E-mailed or verbally given to me:

1. Pageant Sunday Afternoon rather than a School night

2. Make Parents sign Rules/Regulations form to verify they have READ every rule

3. Practices Differant nights for differant ages

4. More than one room to change clothing in

5.Girls meet the judges before going on stage so they are not scared of them

6. Someone to monitor doors to keep general public and others not allowed to be in changing rooms or backstage area

7. Add 7-8-9 Age groups

Morgan and I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all who helped make this pageant. It was a fun night - Morgan had a ball - besides the fact of getting sick - she had a fun time. She was ticked pink to get a sash and crown. We enjoyed the time to get to know other girls on our area - we look forward to next year.

Morgan would like to send a big CONGRATS to all the girls who won - said from the mouth of babes - we are all winners.

Thanks again

Girly Comments & Graphics

Thank you Moms and Dads
for sharing your wonderful Daughters with me for the past 2 months!

Rehersals have been hectic at times with all the contestants but all in all it went pretty smooth.

It has indeed been a pleasure working with the girls, they are delightful, full of spunk and make my job so much fun. I have enjoyed being apart of their Milton Harvest Festival Experiance.

I just wanted to say thanks for being so patient, supportive and understanding throughout the whole process.

As you all know this is my first year running the Littles one pageant. It is a learning process and will continue to get better and better each year.

Ideas, Suggestions are always welcomed. I hope you return next year and compete again if your daughter is not crowned this year as a Mini Miss, Dainty Miss, Little Miss or Junior Miss. If your daughters are not eligible to compete next year, e could always use extra help! Please feel free to join our committee. A Strong committee makes a better event!

Thanks again for all your help!

QUESTIONS FROM PARENT:

Do we have a certain amount of seats reserved for family members, or are we allowed only seats in the front for parents? Also, do the family members need to tell anyone when arriving that their family and would like to sit in the front?

ANSWER:
You'll be excited to hear this! All Tickets orange and Yellow will have RESERVED Seating in the front section. When they hand in their Tickets they will begiven a wrist band which will allow them to sit in the reserved Orange/Yellow Ticket section.

Anyone who purchases tickets at the door will sit towards the back of the auditorium.

There are going to be wrist bands for VIP, Family pre-sold tickets and then general public

I am terribly soory for any inconvience and disarray that rehersal seemed to be last night.

The Person who was suppose to assist with the Sound never showed up to help with sound and Lighting. As many of you know I was there by 5pm and I had to tear apart the stage area.

Bleachers were up, Piano, Music Stands Ladders and all kinds of things were left on the stage. It took us 20 minutes just to get it all cleared away.

When the music man came he had no way of getting into the room above to turn on power for the mixcs and other neccessary sound equipment.

It will be taken care of by Monday Night! Dale Kriner our Festival Chair is suppose top handle it today with the school.

Otherwise I think the Girls all did terrificand I cn not wait for the big night!

MILTON — It’s harvest season in Milton, and its bumper crop is people.
The 32nd annual Milton Harvest Festival, labeled “Harvesting Our Traditions” kicks off this weekend.
If for some reason you’re not yet familiar with the event, the festival is believed to be the largest draw in Milton during the year.
Dale Kriner, who’s chaired the festival for 17 years, expects this year to be even bigger than before.
A steady slate of events are planned for this weekend, next week and next weekend. Two events in particular have swelled in size.
Grace James, who has been all over the state and country running pageants, took the helm of the pageant for the younger girls.
Kriner said 43 girls will be competing, compared to single digits last year.
Two new misses will be crowned this year, in addition to the traditional Little Miss and Junior Miss. A 4-year-old will be named Mini Miss and a 5-year-old will be selected as Dainty Miss. Little Miss is for 6-year-olds and a Junior Miss is picked from 10- to 12-year-olds.
“A 4-year-old (competing) against a 6-year-old can be intimidating,” Kriner said of making the change and adding the Miss divisions.
The girls, including the Harvest Festival Princess contestants, will be holding dress rehearsals this week, getting ready to show their stuff. The Milton Harvest Festival Princess Pageant is slated for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Milton Area High School. The younger misses will be competing at 7 p.m. next Monday, Sept. 15, at the high school. Admission for each is $5.
The festival’s Tournament of Bands, which returned last year after a long hiatus, has doubled in size.
Brett Hosterman, band director at the Milton Area High School and organizer of the tournament, said extra planning time has netted 13 bands. Invitations were mailed to more than 150 schools in a three state area.
In addition to the high school bands that will be competing, Kutztown University, in the area because of a football game with Bloomsburg, will offer a special performance.
Hosterman said this tournament is one of the fastest growing competitions in the nine-state Atlantic Coast area.
“The Milton Harvest Festival Tournament of Bands is for many bands, the kickoff to their competitive seasons,” Hosterman said. “I am excited to see what the future holds for this show.”
The band director added this has only been possible because of the support of volunteers and local business, including ConAgra, which is sponsoring the trophies.
Support and dedication in general is what has been keeping the Milton Harvest Festival rolling, Kriner said.
“There are people on these committees who refuse to let it die,” he said. “And the people and businesses within this community continue to support it.
“As long as the demand is there.”
The longtime chairman added they’re always open to new volunteers who want to step up. It’s always the hope that the Milton Harvest Festival is just one of the events that puts Milton on the map.
“Hopefully we’re just setting an example,” he said. Events like the Milton Harvest Festival “tells surrounding communities Milton is still alive.”
For many, Kriner said the festival serves as a homecoming. Many former Milton High classes seem to be scheduling their reunions on the weekends of the event.
“This is an opportunity to see people in the downtown you haven’t talked to for months.”
There will be an opportunity to talk to an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 people on parade day, Sept. 20. Kriner assumes the crowds will be larger with the increased number of marching bands participating in the parade, starting at 1 p.m. In the evening, starting at 6 on Alumni Field, the band tournament begins.
During the day in the downtown, this Saturday and next, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., will be plenty of arts and crafts, antiques and food stands. Kriner said 115 vendors have signed up for the first Saturday and there are 130 slated for the second Saturday, called Festival Day. There are still a few more spaces for vendors, if interested. Call Gerry Walters at 742-9460 for more information.
For more information on the Milton Harvest Festival, visit the official Web site at www.miltonharvestfestival.org.

For talent some are very afraid! The Big sisters will be permitted to take the girls out on stage. However them can not assist the girls with their talent routines. Dear Parents and Contestants,

I have some information that I want to make certain that all contestants have received to date. At the first rehearsal you should have received a complete list of every contestant in your age division. That list contained Childs Name, Parents name and Phone numbers. If you have not received your daughter(s) age group list please let me know so I can give you one.

Also you should have received a web site to visit to received valuable up to date information regarding rehearsals, picnic info, clothing sites, pictures etc… The board to go to is www.voy.com/217248/

Last week you should EACH have received a paper regarding Good Luck Wishes. This is NOT a fundraiser! I have had several phone calls and messages on the voy board asking about the FUND RAISER! It is not a Fundraiser! Good luck wishes can be sold for $5.00 a wish and these good luck wishes will be placed in the program night of the pageant. It is an exciting way to show your daughters good luck wishes from their Family, Friends, Aunts, Uncles, and Grandparents. It is a neat keepsake for their Scrapbooks. Good luck wishes are not to exceed 15 words and the $5.00 per wish and wishes must be handed in September 4th rehearsal.

September 4th Rehearsal will be broken down as follows. The 4-5 Year olds will meet at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 6:30 for rehearsal! 6 Year olds and 10-11 Year olds will meet at 7:15 for rehearsal. It is very important that EVERYONE makes these last rehearsals. Important information, and Good Luck wishes and Money must be handed in at this time!

Tonight I have with me Good Luck wishes information if you did not receive it, Tickets to sell if you have not received them, Sign up sheets for the Photo Contest Saturday September 13…EVERYONE MUST DO AT LEAST ONE HOUR! Also a sign up sheet to bring in a snack night of the pageant to keep our girls fed and happy!

Last week every contestant was to hand in their INTRODUCTION, if you did not hand them in give them to me tonight before you leave!

Several Girls clothing has not been approved yet. Make sure I see all clothing to approve it for pageant night!

4-5 Year olds will practice tonight downstairs. 6 year olds and 10-11 year olds will be upstairs. If you have more than one child competing and one is down and the other one is upstairs you may go to either place!

Please do not hesitate to call me with any questions, my number is 742-1731.
Do NOT call before 1pm. You may reach me at that number from 1pm until 11pm at night. I will leaving tonight for the beach and will not be home until Late Monday night. You may reach me Tuesday next week.

What is the fund raiser and what exactly are good luck wishes. I am confused to the fundraiser. Last week at the Church rehersal we told if we wanted to do the fund raiser to pick up a form. I am confused since we were told we did not have a fund raiser. What do we need to sell and How many are required? TY
