Subject: Discourse Analysis

After reading and watching the slides, I picked up some piece of information about DA that I found very crucial. Firstly, I would like to mention about coherence. if a text does not present "a feeling of unit" it is not coherent. Such as the examples shown during the presentation, they do not make sense at all at the beggining. The coherence is the necessary quality for communication. It can not be explained by concentrating on the internal of grammar of sentence. Another point seen refers about the cooperative principles. They are divided in maxims of quality, quantity, relation and manner. Respecting each one is essential to establish a good and efficient conversation.
Finally, I would like to emphasize the importance and necessity in producing language in a specific context. We teachers need to be careful in not offering descontextualized teaching.
