I don’t think that to like grammar can be seen as problem. In fact I believe is a facilitator. Your motivation can be a trigger to find a way to make your students feel the same about grammar. For many of them grammar is a challenging and sometimes boring aspect. Challenging I do believe is it, not only for them, but for us. Boring I believe is maybe because of the way is treated inside the class. Repetitive and with almost no room for interpretation, for construction.

As Carol Miranda had said, by most of the teachers, grammar is seen as a bunch of formulas, structures, and drills. It’s only treated at the sentence level. I do believe that in some cases it is effective, but we must not forget about the importance of contextualized grammar. Students should have the opportunity to observe, to interpret the relation between the sentences, how together they create a unit.
