Team Mossett Player/Coach Brian Schiavi has been seen tooling around Western New York in a glorified golf cart. His company is footing the tab (Dan Gagliardo, 81), but still, is this any way to go through life as an old time hockey player. What's next, Schav, are going to start wearing a visor on the ice. I don't see Matty S. wearing no stinking visor.

Despite all the negative news about NCHS, I attended a meeting last night on efforts not only to raise funds for the present but to secure the future and I want to share some of it as I don't think the right message is getting out.
All Alumni received requests to PLEDGE money to support the school. Please contact everyone from your class about this. They do not have to SEND the money right now, they just need to make the PLEDGE commitment to secure the future of the school. Some worry about giving money and if, despite all efforts, the school closes they've lost money. They will not. They also can still PLEDGE their support now and pay later. NC NEEDS YOUR COMMITMENT!
The Fund-raising Goal can be met if every one of the alumni commits to a monthly donation of $10 or $20 for 10 (or even 5) months. Share those numbers. Even in the worst of economic times, many can commit to that donation or more.
NCHS can make huge strides toward the goal if every one of the over 6,000 alumni commits to $25 pledge for the future of the school.
You don't have to have deep pockets to make this effort successful. With participation from he 6,000 plus who are part of St. Mary's, Duffy, Madonna & Niagara Catholic, the goal can be exceeded.
Even the youngest of graduates can help out with a pledge in these amounts. PLEASE share this message and please commit to a donation for the future of NCHS! And continue to share the message about the education at NCHS and help more students make the choice to join our family.

Team Mossett General Manager/Coach Brian Schiavi dealt childhood friend, and DNC 2008 MVP Mike Merletti, to Team Newhouse in exchange for Denny Gruarin, TSN confirmed.
"It broke my heart," Schiavi said. "I've known him since we were 5. But, I had to do what was best for the team. Denny Gruarin will bring us a tough, almost goon like, competitiveness to the front line we were lacking in."
Merletii, a podiatrist, heard news of the trade while he was slicing through a 62 year old, caucasian male's in-grown toe nail.
"I don't know how much more I could have done for Team Mosett," Merletti was quoted as saying. "I won the 'bleeping' MVP this year. Brian has always been jealous of my approach to the game. This is just his way of dealing with his issues."
Team Newhouse/Coach Dave San Lorenzo was uncharacteristically silent about the trade. He did send a a message that this might not be the last move he makes, an apparent reference to his disatisfaction over his team's loss to Team Mossett.
Denny Gruarin refused comment as well. He vowed to air his side of the story soon, in this forum.

The goal scored by Vincent "VJ" McConeghy is under review by Gary betman, Rich Condino, and Sister Nancy. Lewiston Police Cheif Chris Salada(team Newhouse) stated that his Radar Gun clocked his Slapshot that scored at 110 MPH. There are no Slapshots allowed. Referee Joe "Ray Charles" alsop Stated that because of a financial conflick he could not penalize "VJ" for the infraction. Game Video clearly shows a ten second wind up for his "Slapshot". If the goal is disallowed the two teams will replay the entire game next year and the 2008 game will have an asterisk in the record book for ever.

John "Jank" Jankowski will be attending his first DNC with his two sons.
Jank was the starting and only goaltender for the 1980 City Cup Champs. He lives in Houston, TX.
A merry prankster off the ice, but steely competitor on, Jank was one of the more popular players in NC history.
