I would like to know what age is it okay to begin breeding a young stallion? I own a QH colt that I do plan on breeding someday. He is a Zippo/Scotch Bar Time, he turns 2 in Feb. 2003. He is 14.3, weighs 900 lbs or so. I plan on doing only A/I for simplication purposes and because my Vet has a good A/I program close to my farm. I also do not want to do live covers for safety reasons. I have had a few mares owners ask about breeding to my colt this spring, what do you think? I would like others opinions please.
