Subject: Joey Brooks & Justin...INSIDE TERESA!

It was Saterday @ the stables. Justin & Joey, best friends, were getting their ponies ready for a private lesson Jenny was giving them. She came over, wearing breeches, boots, gloves and a hairnet. Her tee shirt read, "Live to Ride, Ride to Live." With a smile, she bent down and said, "Can I help you guys get ready?" Joey, Jenny's son, smiled proudly and said, "That's ok." He picked up the brush and ran it over Sunburst's side. "Yeah, we know how to GROOM horses," Justin laughed, combing out Dancer's mane. The 2 chestnut ponies stood patiently as the little boys groomed them expertly. With slight difficulty, they tacked up, and climbed onto the mounting block. Joey turned his Chincoteague gelding towards the outdoor arena and Justin followed on his New Forest mare, Dancer. Jennifer went to the center and said, "Ok, walk them around twice, then start a posting trot." The kids walked the ponies around, talking & laughing. The summer sun was warm and felt nice as Joey pressed his heels into Sunburst's sides. The 13h chestnut bounced into a trot, strides short. "Whoa, whoa, Joey, that trot is horrid!" Jenny called. "Collect your pony." Joey tugged on the reins and shifted his weight, falling onto the right posting rythem. Sunny's trot evened out and he flew around the ring. Dancer snorted and quickened her trot, but Justin kept her steady. "Up, down, up, down. Count, 1,2,1,2,1,2." Jennifer offered as the kids posted by. "Good, you guys are getting the hang of it!" The 2 begginners glowed happily. After 5 minutes of solid trotting, Jenny said, "Walk." The ponies gladly dropped to a walk, sweat rolling off thier necks. Joey rubbed his legs. After 2 minutes of walking, Jenny said, "Trot, in 2point." They urged thier ponies to a trot and bent fowards, gripping with their legs. "Good job, remember not to lean fowards to much, and don't let your weight rest on the reins or in the stirrups too much. Easy Justin you look like you're going to fall off sideways! Eyes straight ahead please." After 5 or so minutes of 2 point, Jennifer let them have a walking break, then told the boys to work up to a slow canter. 6 year old Joey smiled and tapped Sunny behind the girth. The pony was glad to quit trotting and his hooves skimmed over the arena floor as he cantered quickly along the rail. Justin wasn't afraid either and he trustingly fed Dancer extra rein. The mare carefully carried her rider into a smooth canter. "Heels down, hands back, sit striaght, look between their ears!, don't pull to much now Justin, Joey loosen up on the reins.." Jennifer listed a string of instructions.
