Subject: RICE COAT OF ARMS.

First let me start with the name Rice this is Patronymic origin' which were many medieval names. Now let's take a look at this. It comes from the first name of the father' so just keep looking at the name Rice' What does the surname Rice mean/ Well the surname Rice simply means [the son of Rhys] It may sometimes be seen as Rees' which that simply meanes [ardour'] This is a very popular Welsh name all of this is because of the deeds of the Welsh Princes of their name. We must study ths name Rice even more. For instance; Rhys Ap Tewdr checked the Norman Advance into Wales. While his grandson was appointed Henry 11's Welsh Deputy. This is something as we discover interesting facts about the Rice's. Now listen to this' the Rice's had a motto which was for certain God feeds the Ravens. ' This Coat Of Arms of the Ravens' the shields' and helment' was inssued to an ancient forbearer of the name of Rice many many years ago. This has been traced way back to as early as 1198 talking about the name Rice. For the most part the Rice's come from Wales. This is truthfully what i have been able to come up with. Ultimately and technically this is very true. But we have to let you know that probably not all Rice's come from Wales. Some come from England most of the English Rice's come from Wales. But we come up with ones which were called Reisses which come from Germany. Maybe you might wonder where i'am getting this through a lot of research. By looking a lot of this up Roots Web. com which this is the oldest and largest free geneology site supported by and if anyone is interested in a wall hanger of the coat of arms you can find the company that does them at; www.columbusproductions.com/hrc/ which will cost a lot's of money. Or you may have a copy of mine for nothing .I want anyone who would like to have a picture of the coat of arms for the Rice's that's in the family to let me know and you may have one. From my heart Charles O'Shields.
