I am sick to death of being nickeled and dimed by directors!! Yes.. I know it is expensive to hold a pageant. I know the time and effort it takes to put on a good one. but you directors decided to take on that burden, you knew what you were getting into in advance.
I do not mind paying to attend your pageant.. BUT... do not nickel and dime me to death when I get there!!! If you need more money then maybe your ppw needs to be revised and you need to rethink your entry fees. What I hate is that I am bringing my child to your pageant, but you are going to charge me to come into the ballroom??? Dont you think at least one door badge should be included,
I mean seriously, if I did not bring her you would not have her entry fee! Next you add a ton of things at the door?? Really!! Why not have those titles on the ppw and tell me what they will cost, or better yet.. INCLUDE THEM! Why do you insist on thinking up more and more titles to make me feel I must enter in order for my daughter to get a fair chance. You say they are not neccessary to enter but we all know differently. And personally I think it is terrible for a child not to receive a title simply because I could not afford to enter it. Some directors even offer " inclusive pkgs." but yet add more at the door... why... if you have an all inclusive, that should include
everything!! Hence the words " all inclusive" Yes, I understand paying extra for extra pictures and for additional door badges, but not for door titles that you added later. Another problem I have is the party, some directors dont offer one at all, dont you think
the children deserve a party after a day of compeition? Remeber the pageant is actually suppose to be for the kids!! And kids love parties!! Some directors offer them, BUT charge for it!!! Now after all I have paid to you you want to charge me to come to the party?!
And finally, t-shirts for crowning... WHY?? Crowning pics are nice, standing there with a beautiful crown on her head and a pretty sash,maybe even holding money, but in a t-shirt that she will not wear after that day! I HATE to pay for a t-shirt/ or sweatshirt I know will never be worn again. Most pageant girls have crowning outfits, let them wear them. Let them look nice for crowning. And if you insist on a crowning shirt, by all means do not charge me for it! Shouldnt it be included if you are insisting she wear it??

I am making a stand and hope more will follow. I will be at pageants that offer all inclusive deals, with nothing added at the door. I will look for pageants that offer a party for my child, and dont charge me to attend, I will look for a pageant that does not make me pay for a silly crowning t-shirt. I will look for a pageant my daughter will enjoy attending, not just a pageant I want her to attend. I will look for a pageant that is not all about the director, vendors, coi, and who does your h/m? or who did your dress? who did your photos? and who do you coach with? I want a pageant that is back to the way it use to be, FUN! and about making memories with my child.
