Trembling, she looked down at what she held. Breaking out in tears, she dropped the object and ran crying into the cottage. Where she'd dropped it, lay a white crystal on a gold chain, carved in the sigil of a dragon rearing, its fire and flame darkened so that it was just another piece of quartz.

sighing like a burden had been lifted from her shoulders, she nodded and a fire shone in the amulet. Smiling, the girl walked back into the forest from whence she came.
