Hi!
In Brazil, people value the colaborative behavior so it’s important working together and helping mutually. In the United States, it’s different. The Americans encouraged the competition.
Brazilians value the material wealth, but not the same form as the Americans, they value it much more.
As regards to hard work and self-reliance, they aren’t relevant for brazilians, on the contrary of the Americans. In our country, people prefer “enjoying the life” and living with their parents indeed after growing up.
Finally, I think Brazilians and Americans value the individual freedom and the equality of opportunity.
