] Date Posted: 10:48:11 05/29/09 Fri The importance of dreaming and imagination nowadays Everybody knows that nowadays our modern world is totally dominated by technology and industrialization. Some of us forget to dream and to imagine. This is a common situation. People need to work, to earn a lot of money, to buy lots of different kinds of things. The most important dream in our lives is to be rich. “Time is money”. This is the traditional discourse in our society. Do we know all of our neighbors names? Do we visit our family frequently? Do we already write letters to our friends? When we think about the answer to these questions, we realize that this modern world change our way of life. Let’s talk a little about industrialization. This is the process of economic and social change whereby a group is transformed from a pre-industrial into an industrial one. It is part of the modernization process. Industrialization also introduces a form of philosophical change. But how? Trough this process we can obtain a different attitude towards nature. Industrialization is really positive for our society. The most dangerous effect of it is pollution. It causes a lot of damage for our environment. The second point in this essay is technology. The term technology origins in the Greek. It refers to material objects of use to humanity: machines, hardware’s, utensils. This term can either be applied generally or specific areas. Everything begins with prehistorically discovery of the ability to control fire. New ways of technology, as cell-phones and the internet, lessened physical berries of communication. Nowadays, the Internet connects people from all over the word. In my opinion, it is the most useful discovery. But unfortunately, in some situations, internet cut our children imagination. They can see wherever they want. They can play every kind of games only sitting in front of a machine. They can research subjects for school’s papers without any kind of book. The world is in their hands. It is good, but it is a little bit dangerous. We know that in some societies, industrialization has helped develop more advanced economies. It is a good point. Various implementations of technology influence the values of a society and new technology often raises new ethical questions. Examples include the rise of the notion of efficiency in terms of human productivity, a term originally applied only to machines, and the challenge of traditional norms. We already have place for dreaming and imagination nowadays. Industrialization and Technology are very important, but they’re not all in human life. They exist to help us, to offer a more comfortable way of life. We can’t depend on them. We need to understand that they are good tools of this modern word. The internet is good, but stay in front of a computer for twenty or thirty hours, it is unacceptable. Everything has a limit, and the use of the technology in our lives has a limit too.
