Current status of BtVS rumors and spoilers (Re-cap, speculation, opinion, and other stuff)
OK, looking up and down the board, we see some new rumors, some old spoilers resurfacing, and just some wacky ideas forming.
The FACTS: So first, let's see what we actually KNOW to be true
-the 17th episode is called Intervention, the 18th is Forever, the 19th Tough Love, and 20th Spiral. Air dates are still sketchy, but it looks as if early April will start. All of the spoiler sites, including this one, agree on these titles, but there is some confusion as to whether Intervention and Forever are reversed.
-As of this writing, Amber Benson's contract was for 16 appearances this season, of which she's appeared in 12 shows (or is it 13?). If her contract was extended, renewed, or whatever, it has not been reported, but it's possible.
-As of this writing, Kristine Sutherland is no longer on the show in any capacity.
-As of this writing, all other major cast members (yes, that includes JM) are not scheduled for any unexplained "disappearances", except for a slightly diminished role for ASH to make room for "family time."
-The current strike situation does not affect THIS season's remaining shows.
-As far as the sale of BTVS to ABC or Fox, your guess is as good as Joss's…
The SPOILERS: Next, the ever popular world of the "spoiler", or things that have been reported by other sites as "reliable." Not much, though…
-In "Forever", Buffy and Buffy and Dawn prepare for their mother's funeral, Anya expresses her fears about her own mortality. Like clockwork, D'Hoffryn returns to offer Anya her powers back, with surprising results. Also, supposedly a "surprise guest or two" show up at Joyce's funeral.
-In "Intervention"As Buffy struggles to deal with her new role as parent, her father, Hank Summers (guest star Dean Butler), returns with his new girlfriend, Sophie (guest star Mellisa Gilbert). Instead of just comforting Buffy after such a great loss, the two inform her that they have come to claim Dawn. Also, after hearing about Joyce's death, Angel (guest star David Boreanaz) flees back to Sunnydale to comfort a distraught Buffy over her mother's grave.
-The season fanale is also the 100th episode. Crossovers between BtVS and AtS have been widely reported, but exact details are sketchy. The most popular are that Oz, Faith, and Riley make re-appearances, as well as Angel, Cordy, Wesley, and Gunn crossing over. It is also thought to be a two parter, with episode 21. Joss has been known not to like "cliffhangers" at the end of the season.
The RUMORS: And now, the fun begins with all the widespread rumors, with some notes that prove some of them false.
-Dawn will "raise" Joyce back from the dead with her Key Power. Nope, she's dead and gone.
-The second and third "hellgods" make appearances or are revealed to do this or that. There has been no proof anywhere that we will ever see the second or third hellgods. Giles' brief description from the WC notes are the only instance of them being mentioned.
-Brian, Joyce's last date, makes a big impact, is of major importance, etc… Joss has cofirmed in a few interviews that Brian will not be of any importance. He's nothing.
-The Bronze waitress is a time traveler who will warn the gang of some impending doom This was reported quite a while ago and basically took the place of the "future Xander" rumor, but this far into the season, it is, to me, doubtful to happen. Not enough time to develop a full storyline given the Glory and Joyce's death storylines.
-Spike and the Buffybot WAY too many to tell here. I've seen everything from the Buffybot taking Buffy's place in the group to Buffy using it as a decoy when fighting Glory. All I know is the damn thing isn't even built yet, so who knows! HOWEVER, it is too pronounced a storyline at the end of Crush to simply make it a one-show plotline. It should have some ramifications for the rest of the season.
-Spike and the Chip Is it de-activated? Does it work? Spike's encounter with Drusilla is made to make us (and him) THINK that it's no longer effective, but then again we haven't seen him bite anyone since…
-Angel and company crossing over for a few episodes While details are sketchy, the fact that it is proven that the main cast of AtS aren't going to be in LA for a few shows leads one to wonder…
-Spike vamping Buffy, Faith dying in season fanale I doubt either of these being true, but again, who knows. No proof one way or the other, except for the fact that this information came grouped with a BUNCH of "spoilers" for the rest of the season, and that same group has a bunch of facts that are already proved false.
-Amy gets "de-ratted" I'd LOVE this to happen, but apparently the actress who played Amy is hot property in Hollywood, so…
-Glory does the brain suck thing on Tara Now this is an interesting one, because while it sounds a little bit far-fetched, a recent interview with Amber Benson said that she was quoted of saying what happens to Tara in the final episode this season is "insane". One plus one equals…
-Wild feed downlinks of BtVS and AtS will be scrambled by Fox This has since been proved false. We will still get the Wild feed summaries early.
-Spike gets Staked Yes, this is a real old one. I just wanted to get the rumor mill going again… Tee hee!
