Marcia Ann Bures

Marcia Ann Bures, 39 (give or take a few decades) of Matthews, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026, surrounded by family. Though her birth date would technically make her 85, Marcia never acknowledged an age older than 39 and certainly saw no reason to start now. A much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, and lifelong performer, she lived with heart, humor, creativity, and an unapologetic toughness that brought authenticity to every role she played on screen and in life.
Born in Manila, the Philippines, Marcia was the daughter of the late Fred Hoffman and Genevieve Schwalm Hoffman. From an early age, it was clear she gravitated toward the stage. After performing in school plays and studying drama at The College of William & Mary, Marcia moved to New York City, where she launched a career in musical theater, commercials, and soap operas, the beginning of a lifetime in entertainment.
In New York, she met her husband and lifelong leading man, Joseph Edward Bures. Their love story spanning more than 52 years was built on friendship, laughter, and deep companionship. Joseph taught Marcia how to play golf, which became a cornerstone of their relationship and a favorite way to spend time together with their daughters. Family lore says their perfect rhythm was simple and sacred: church, golf, lasagna, repeat the way most Sundays were joyfully spent.
After relocating to California, Marcia built a remarkable career as a working character actress, appearing on the small and big screen over five decades. Memorable appearances include Young Sheldon, Grace and Frankie, Mad Men, Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds, and How I Met Your Mother, Bones, The King of Queens, My Name Is Earl, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Monk, Frasier, and Moonlighting, among many others. Her film credits include 'Rumor Has It' and Sofia Coppola's The Bling Ring.
Audiences also knew Marcia as everyone's favorite Mrs. Claus in the beloved Hallmark holiday films starring Steve Guttenberg and Crystal Bernard, including Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus and its sequel Meet the Santas. These films became seasonal favorites and cemented Marcia's unforgettable reign as Mrs. Claus‚ roles she played with warmth, wit, and heart, and which delighted generations of viewers year after year.
Though she loved performing her favorite role was Mom, the one she cherished most. She taught her kids that life was limitless, rules were optional, and you could do anything. She lived it, she meant it, and she passed it on like a family superpower.
Marcia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Edward Bures. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Martin and Diana Fuller; sons-in-law, Douglas V. Martin and James Payne Fuller; grandsons, Grant Joseph Fuller and Talon James Hartsell Fuller; brothers, Fred Hoffman (and wife, Judy) and Greg Hoffman (and wife, Jayne); sister, Toni Pettigrew; and many nieces and nephews.
