Brazilian Astrud Gilberto, who gained international fame as the lead singer of the 1964 Top 5 hit, “The Girl From Ipanema,” has passed away. She was 83.

Despite having little to no singing experience, Gilberto’s voice enabled “The Girl From Ipanema” to reach #5 in the summer of 1964 and win the Grammy Award for Record Of The Year.

Alberto was the correct question once on this Final Jeopardy answer... "the inspiration posed along for Brazil's playboy in 1987 & with her daughter in 2003.”

According to Wikipedia, Ipanema “"is a region located on the southern zone of the city Rio de Janeiro, in a small peninsula between Ipanema and Copacabana.
