He had guessed one of two thing would come of his actions, she would grudgingly allow him a small amount of the kill, then chase him off, which he would have allowed her to do. Or she would attack him, set of laying her claim. Sometimes her hated wolves, they where always so predictable, never improvising... Though he had exposed himself, he had been ready for her attack, muscles quivery even as he had closed his jaws around the deers flesh. But god it tasted good!
He was slowed only slightly by the grasp he had on the flesh, as it wasn't a very solid hold. He had only wanted to test her bounds, see what made this female tick. She was used to getting her way, which meant she was likely used to dealing with submissive wolves. Growling, he danced farther to the left, coming half circle from the point he had approached the kill. If the female had not moved, he would be behind her. But surly she would not allow him that advantage. Though with luck, the deer she had been straddling would slow her feet a bit. He took a chance, darting in under her rear feet to grab a chuck of innards poking out. It was the deep crimson bulk of the liver, his canines snagged the edge of the thing, and he yanked away dancing back from her teeth. Quick as lightning he swallowed the liver down, licking his jaws of the blood smeared there. It would give him an awful belly ache later, but it was worth the win.
I put the pedal to the metal as the sun goes down. Leave everybody sleepin in this sleepy town, tonight And at the break of day, I'll be a runaway!
