The weight that dropped on to his back, though little, still elicited a grunt from the large black stallion. It had been a while since any human had been astride his broad back and though his first inclination would have been to send the boy flying headfirst across the meadow, Las Vegas behaved as if oblivious. Well, briefly. He had given the boot one more good shake before the kid's voice was echoing in his ears once more. Vegas peered over his shoulder at the bipedal with a bit of annoyance, his ears turned back distastefully. Didn't these things ever shut up? It was loud enough out here, what with the birds making all that damned racket.

The pleading look on the boy's face to little to motivate the stallion forward, but the birds overhead in all their furious raging would likely mistake him for some sort of accomplice and and come diving in for revenge. Teeth still sunk against the leather of they human's boot, Vegas rapidly set to pace, springing off his white hocks with powerful grace. Somehow not unseating the boy but surely giving him one hell of a time up there trying to hold on. Hooves struck sod and Vegas galloped up the meadow swiftly, dropping his head as he went through a stand of young trees and then up the hill before finally onto the high end of the meadow where he circled about at a lope before finally stopping and dropping the boy's boot into the dust. Briefly he inventoried the skies, making certain they'd left the birds to fuss off at the distant opposite side of this wide expanse.
