Newborn life replacing all of us
Changing this fable we live in
No longer needed here
So where do we go?
Will you take a journey tonight...
Follow me past the walls of death?
But girl, what if there is no eternal life?

His first true attempt at showing real affection to someone other than Sha had been a little awkward, but he felt pretty good about it. Hell, Elden had even hugged him back! While he wasn't the type to go making a habit out of it, it was at least good to know the boy wouldn't totally be wierded out by the contact. While a little flustered, it was pretty obvious the man was pleased--proud he'd been able to pull it off, and happy El had been at least a little receptive.

Elden's words drew a grin from him. Fuck if it didn't make you feel a little old when your kid was sounding wiser than you were...he had to remember El wasn't the young boy he'd been when he'd left all those years ago. The boy was a man, one that had seen and done more in his years than most do in a lifetime. When you could start learning from your kids instead of just teaching them, the 'raising' part was over. He felt bad he'd missed the teaching part. "You got a point there, son." There was a lot of unanswered scenarios in the world, that was true. More than he cared to think about. He'd just be thankful that both the kids had made it out ok.

He chuckled, nodding. "Good, good. Why don't you get on back and see about that girl of yours. I'll be not far behind ya. Gotta make a stop or two." His flask needed filling, for instance.
