Hello Sharon, I have read that book for the first time about 35 years ago and understand why it is a mandatory book in -as far as I know- for example the CIA, the KGB, the Mossad, and so on. When this book is one of your favorites you probably also have read Go Rin No Sho by Miyamoto Musashi which in my opinion should also be studied carefully. Having owned an Ambull you probably know that Amstaffs are in general very friendly dogs with no agression to humans but have a different reputation in the view of the general public. That fact and the fact it is light enough to be lifted into for example a small opening or a window in a building can be quite usefull if one wants to take an uncooperative person out of that building, preferably unharmed and also unarmed. The Amstaff might not look the obvious choice for this activity but it is a small, fast moving target that does not give its position away by barking and usually fear does not help to aim well. Anyway they liked it and the Kevlar suit did not slow them down very much so on the rare occasions they made the first contact they were on the target before that target could react. I do like to get my dog back withut a scratch and I don't really care about the other party. It is my personal experience that in many breeds only one or two pups per litter at the most really will be good in whatever they are bred for. Also there is a fair chance that no pup in a litter will perform up to the desired standard. I have taught in an institution where they breed and train I think it is named in english seeing eye dogs (to help blind persons) and out of every litter there on average seven or eight pups will not become such a dog but become a very nice family dog. I have heard but have no own experience this is the same with breeding hunting dogs, and so on. Knowing this but not knowing much about the Boerboel I would not be surprised if a dog will not be completely reliable. My present dog for example does not react to shots but can be frightened by something silly like a big plastic bag in the twilight. So I continue to train him but I look at the training with a different mind, compared to many other dog owners. Many owners that for example train their dog to sell it later on to a police force have never been in a situation where such a dog is usefull. I have, not many times, but just long enough to think a little different from a guy who has only theoretical knowledge. For me the ATTS test would be very usefull to improve myself as a dog trainer which will lead to a better life for Bomani. I have made many mistakes in the past as I already wrote on Casper's Forum and I want to become a better dog owner. Yours kindly, Gijs
