Hospitals currently have a lot of trouble with superbugs ... these are things like golden staf which change when attacked with antibiotics. Some of these little nasties survive our attempts to kill them, these little survivors breed up and before you know it the antibodies that used to kill them no longer work and thus we get the disease. I understand aids does this quite readily. Yes the the virus adapts! ... why does it adapt ... because evolution allows it to! These changes can take place in weeks and even days.... and they don't change into fish!
