A while ago, Ben posted a message asking for principles which we could all generally agree on. I don't remember there being many responses to that one. But it's interesting how all it takes is for one person to admit imperfections in his/her position, show some vulnerability at the risk of being devoured, to bring out some civil, agreeable disussion from others, even for a moment. Considering that one of the purposes of this board is expressed to be to learn about other viewpoints through intelligent discussion, I think this is progress.

I see one commonality among the more serious posters here: every seems occupied with finding the truth. The truth about where we came from, what we're doing here and why. The differences are in the presuppositions, but everyone values rational, intelligent and critical thinking, and for that should be commended.

Just an observation.
