Thanks, Ben, for posting this. I am reminded of the book by professor and (former?) priest Tom Harpur "The Pagan Christ". and Gerald Massey's "The Historical Jesus and Mythical Christ. A lecture." Massey could read the ancient writings of the Egyptians, including about Horus, Osiris and Isis. On page 1 he wrote " ... Finding that Jesus, or Jehoshua Ben-Pandira, was an historical character, known to the Talmud, ... " etc.
..... I think that Jesus, probably under a different name, was a Jewish social reformer who helped many deserving people. He insisted on high quality of all of the members of the "Kingdom of God", never mind their quantity, while the very many unauthorized later versions/denominations of Christianity changed the priority to maximize the quantity of members, never mind their quality.
