..... As I remember it, that resolution did NOT authorize any of the members of the UN to go start a war without an OK from the Security Council. There is a provision in the Charter of the UN how to do that "properly". Compare with the start of the Korean war when the USSR was absent and therefore didn't use its veto. ("Uniting for Peace" resolution of the General Assembly of the UN?)
