Or it could be that most Republican legislators--being of the Republican Party--happen to agree with the Republican President regarding the judicial nominations. Methinks the latter is more likely. Additionally, there are a heckuva lot of people who aren't afraid to critcize George Bush in his country, even among prominent politicians. Democrats (and even some dissenting Republicans) have done so all the time, and are even free to air their criticism in the nation's media (watch CNN if you don't believe me). The same was hardly true for Saddam. The idea that people are afraid to say “no” to the President does not seem well founded.

Indeed, one of the oddities of the American citizen can be found in the Acme Dictionary of the English Language:

Main Entry: 1Amer·i·can
Pronunciation: &-'mer-&-k&n, -'m&r-, -'mar-, -i-k&n
Function: noun

1: A person who is never afraid to criticize the President but is always polite to traffic cops.

I didn't vote to re-elect Bush either, but I think your comparison is something of a false analogy. Bush is nowhere near as evil as Saddam, and he certainly is not a dictator. For better or for worse, Bush is a democratically elected politician serving a limited term. Calling him a “dictator” etc. sounds like more empty anti-Bush rhetoric.
