>You know, Star Trek has now spanned over what? Almost
>fifty years? Granted, that isn't two thousand.

Exactly, that isn't two thousand. And there are many more copies of Star Trek editions available today than there were of the Bible in ancient times, long before even the printing press had been invented. We also have a much more literate population than would have existed in those times. Most relied on verbal story-telling to carry on the message.

Is there some unifying
>force behind the series? Nah. The authors just make
>the next episode jibe with the rest of the episodes.
>Sure, they screw up now and then, and something
>doesn't make sense with what happened in the past. The
>Bible here too, is pretty much the same. (Remember
>season two of the Bible when God became super nice?
>The viewers got tired of mean vindictive God.)

That's a common misconception. Actually, some research will show that the New Testament speaks more frequently to the wrath and anger of God than the Old.

>Maybe in another two thousand years people will
>worship Star Trek because of how remarkably consistent
>it has been, and probably will continue to be. There
>must be some unifying force behind it.

To be honest, it's entirely possible. Of course, for people to recognize Star Trek's credibility, we will have to travel to other worlds, encounter beings who resemble Klingons and Vulcans, learn how to transport matter instantly through space, etc. Then, perhaps the world will open its eyes and recognize Gene Rodenberry as the Messiah.
