One of my pet peeves is the use of the terms "sex and violence" as one phrase. A few years ago a well known writing instructor published a magazine article in Writer's Digest on this subject.

When we have a generation of children that have grown up hearing to two words linked as one term, is it any wonder that spouse abuse and date rape have become social issues that have to be dealt with? Are we subconciously planting the seed of behavior problems when we keep saying it as one thing. Try this: soup & ?; horse & ?; sex & ?...see what I mean.

When referring to inappropriate behavior on tv, can't we come up with a better way of expressing ourselves? Is our vocabulary that limited? For "sex and violence" to be used in the same breath, I consider to be irresponsible in itself.
