Jessica Lynch was awarded the Bronze Star??? Does anyone know why this medal is awarded? The Bronze Star Medal is awarded to any person who distinguished himself or herself by heroic or meritorious achievement or service. Notice the key word HEROIC. Lynch has admitted publicly that she got down on her knees and prayed. She admitted that she did not fire a single shot because her weapon jammed. A jammed weapon? Any responsible soldier or Marine would have taken care of their weapon. I am a Marine and am extremely offended by the recent developments. She was awarded a medal for heroism, bravory, and valor. She was awarded a medal that countless men have died for since its creation in 1944. She was awarded for giving up to the enemy. That is bullshit and nothing but a publicity stunt. She should be ashamed of herself. The only way she might earn the respect of the Marines and other service members is by giving that Bronze Star back. What a bunch of shit.
