I went and read your article, and I found it to be very well thought-out. When I was a Christian, I often struggled with the idea of "tithing," and wondered why there weren't clear verses telling me something or other. Of course, as I went through the process of leaving Christianity, part of what I realized was that the Bible really _isn't_ all that clear on various important issues. This is part of what convinced me that the Bible couldn't be this clear revelation from a perfect, invisible being in the sky.

But I digress.

You wrote a nice article, and I hope it challenges some Christians to do what I am always encouraging them to do--think for themselves. I can see that you do that, and I'm impressed. I know that I wasn't willing to just take what people told me as fact, and that's part of what made me able to question my beliefs about the Bible on a fundamental level, despite the desperate pleas of my friends, who told me I had "dangerous ideas."

But I digress.
