Well, here's my thoughts on it.
First of all, no I will not leave my hunting group just to go out and give someone a SoW. Not unless I'm waiting anyways or I'm very close. My group members understand this and usually I get a small donation out of it (1pp seems typical). However, I refuse to ever set a price. Whenever I am asked how much I charge, I simply tell them "Whatever it is worth to you". While this may seem stupid to some, I feel that overall it is the fairest way. I have occasionally received minor items or a couple of plat. However, I understand that sometimes people don't a lot of money, or any at all. I also freely give to anyone who is going to fetch their corpse, as I understand what it is like to have to travel long distance without SoW.
As far as binds go, I am much more willing to bind someone for free. This is simply because, when I traveled at lower levels, I could usually get a bind for free (I was always very poor) and so I feel I must return the favor.
In the end, I do not understand why we should demand a price. After all, if the roles were switched, we wold like to hope for the same. I do, though, refuse to aid anyone who begs. I can't stand beggars and usually put them on my ignore list so I don't have to listen to them. But I see no reason for us to "rebel".
