Subject: Info from meeting


I just wanted to recap a few things that were discussed at the meeting that was held this past Sunday with Colleen Schroeder and myself since many of you weren't present. Students can no longer compete under the O'Grady-Quinlan Academy. Please understand that this decision is not Colleen's or mine, but something that we must obey from CLRG (the commission). Our dance school, however, will be joining the National Irish Dance Federation in the VERY near future (the next few weeks) for those of you interested in the competitive aspect of Irish Dance. The Federation is a fairly new division of Irish Dance and I'm extremely excited for our school to become a member of this circuit. I have handouts with additional information; please see me at some point if you did not receive one. I also announced the school colors (black, white, and cyan blue); please see me if you would like to actually see a sample of the colors. I am also finishing up some work on a school logo/design. Once this is finished, I would like to discuss the interest in getting jackets or t-shirts made so that we can start to work on our school unity! Finally, a decision has been reached that classes at the Reading location will temporarily cease at the end of the month of January until further notice. I have tried my best to make this transition doable and easy for everyone. However, I am finding that it would honestly be unfair to keep this Friday class running at this time. It is becoming very difficult for me to drive what ends up being close to an hour and a half with traffic on a Friday, and teaching with energy, effectiveness and to my full potential after a full week of work is almost impossible.Therefore, I have reached the decision that this location must close for the time being; in the mean time, I will try my best to figure out something more feasible. Any dancers who attend classes in Reading are strongly encouraged to attend the New Philadelphia class on a Thursday night at 6pm. Please understand that this decision was not an easy one to make. I know this is not an ideal situation for many of you, but the fact of the matter is that none of us were really left in an ideal situation. So, I ask for your patience, cooperation and understanding in this matter and most importantly, your support. I am aware that the travel time and distance may pose a problem for some of you. Please know that if O'Grady-Quinlan, or maybe even Coyle, is closer for you that there will certainly not be hard feelings no matter what dance school you may choose to attend. I am most concerned with the fact that the dancers have the opportunity to continue their love for Irish Dance. Colleen and I have absolutely no problem with whatever you decide to do; whether you choose to stay with McCormick, go to O'Grady-Quinlan or choose a different dance school if seems to be a better option for you. I am not asking for an immediate decision from those of you who attend the Reading classes, but please be aware of your time frame. I would sincerely appreciate your decisions by the end of January since that is when the Reading classes will cease. All New Philadelphia classes will run as usual. Thank you for your time and understanding; I will see you all at practice this week.
