Baby one more time

Britney’s Back and she knows five ways to mend a broken heart.

Things you can’t help noticing about Britney Spears when you first meet her ….. She smells of peaches. Her skin is tanned all over in an enticing shade of toffee. She chews emerald green gum. Her nails are shockingly bitten. When she’s excited she talks so fast and high that you have to imagine what you have missed. When she’s calm her voice sounds like a slow deep river on a hot night in Louisiana. She says the word “freakin” a lot. If she isn’t dragging a Marlboro light, she’ll be sucking on an iced café latté, and if she’s listening to music she prefers it be played at a level that’s louder than bombs.
“Turn that up,” she yells from behind the screen where’s she getting her make-up done. Seconds later the sound of electro clash DJ monster hell is blasting out of the three foot high amps in this New York studio where Britney is about to be photographed for ELLE. It’s so loud that everyone else has to communicate by lip-reading or mime. Hey, the girl knows what she likes. If it’s not something she can sing along to, it has to be something she can pump her body to. With her tan-set to gleaming and several feet of mermaid like extensions attached to her neat blonde bob she was sporting when she arrived, she skips across the studio in a caramel-towelling robe, one arm waving in the air. And you realise that Britney Spears is the first and last person you will ever see skipping to DJ Hell.
Until last year it seemed that everything in Britney’s world was a hop, skip and a jump’s worth of fun. The three hit albums, the sugary, sexy, silly singles, the dress up videos, the money and the mansions, the all-singing all-dancing love story with EX-*NSYNC star Justin Timberlake. But then because real life likes to show you there’s no escaping it’s evil grasp even when you’re in a cute pop music bubble. Real life hit Britney a few cruel right hooks. Her mum and dad split up, her debut movie crossroads, kinda bombed, the audience in Mexico definitely booed , Kylie said she was highly unprofessional (although that’s probably not so high on Britney’s list of blows) and the Britney and Justin rom-com finally came to an end. Many, many bummers
So Britney said enough is enough, folks, Time out. I’m off home for a bit of R&R, and instead of responding with a “good on you girl you deserve it!” the crowd shouted “loser!” How mean. “You’re supposed to take a break”, she’ll say later when we are sitting on a leather couch and she’s tearing through a nail or two. “It’s normal. My mistake was announcing I was taking a break. That made it an issue. I thought in my naïve mind that when I’d stopped working that I’d be a normal person again”, but no she smiles ruefully, “I was still famous!”
Even worse she was about to be famously betrayed. Last autumn, six months after they had broken up, Justin Timberlake had released his debut album and decided to trade tabloid tales of life with Britney Spears for pop mega superstardom. Old trouser snake spilled the beans and even made a video – starring a cheating Britney look-alike – to drive his point home. “Freakin Horrible! You know what I mean?” says Britney screwing up her face. “It was hard for me that he was so exploitative. Every interview he did he was talking about us in such an open way and I just felt, “is nothing sacred anymore?” it was weird. It was disappointing.”
Heartbreak happens even to 21-year old pop princesses of the world. But Britney spears got over it here’s how.

1. FEEL THE PAIN THEN LET IT GO

“I’ll always have feelings for Justin. OK not feelings for him,” she says quickly (having just foreseen the embarrassing headline “BRITNEY: I STILL LOVE TROUSER SNAKE”) “but he’ll always have a special place in my heart. He was my first love after all.” She’s sorry things didn’t work out, but at the same time she deliriously happy that’s she’s not MRS J to the T. “I think I got way to serious, way too young” she says. “It’s very healthy to not be in that relationship now. There are some people, especially where I’m from, and they marry really early. I’ll call up a friend and say, “Hey! What’s going on? You’re pregnant? What? Already?” But that’s where I come from and that’s the mindset I’ve had all my life!” y’know?”
At that “Freakin” horrible time she tended to ignore the advice she was given. “I don’t think anyone can give you advice when you’ve got a broken heart,” she says “I’m very stubborn. If someone says, “I think you should do this and this,” “I’m like “OK but that’s not how I feel right now.” I think therapists are cool but say what you want to hear. I think you should deal with things yourself. So that’s what I did.”
Plus there are good things that come out of a painful break-up. Like you can sing better. “It makes you a better artist, honey,” she says touching my knee, “I know that for a fact. Me going through what I went through…” she stops. “Oh I bet that sound so stupid. There are a lot of people worse of than me. ME! What I went I through…” she repeats like the worst kind of Drama Queen and shakes her head. “But because of what happened, when I went in the studio to make my new album, I sang better. It’s because you’re feeling. It’s all-real. It’s you.”
The week Elle’s in NYC taking these pictures, Justin has been splashed all over the papers having a fun date at the bowling alley with Cameron Diaz. Just what you want to see your ex doing right? But Britney doesn’t seem bothered. I ask her if she ever thinks she and J will ever get back together. “I’ve said goodbye. Seriously,” she nods “You can love someone so much, but then there are times when too much has been said. You can forgive… but you can’t forget.”

2. GO DANCE WITH NEW BOYS

So here she is, single and just finding out how much fun it can be. “I used to be so into having a boyfriend and being a one-man girl, but being single you do what you want to do. There are no phone calls. At first it was weird, but I don’t know if I could be in a relationship right now. And it’s more exciting when you don’t have a boyfriend.” The other night she went dancing with her friend Melissa to a club called Suede, where MTV where hosting a party. “I was dancing and one of my old friends came up and started really dancing with me,” she says eyes wide. “I was like “oh my god I’m going to have a boyfriend!” you get so excited about the stupidest things. “Oh my god he touched my back!” So who’s the guy? I ask. She aint telling. She’s learned from experience. “C’mon I went to a premiere with Colin Farrell and it was on the cover of freakin’ US Weekly!” Anyway she’s not really after a relationship. “I read in some magazine that I said [adopting a hokey down home accent], “I’m, just a girl who wants somebody to love me.” I never said that, that’s so cheesy.” That piece was all about guy’s being too scared to approach her, but tell that to the man with the dancing hands. And anyway Britney spears can manoeuvre her way around a shy guy. “I think if some guy thinks you’re cute he might be intimidated and not come up.” She says “But I know when I meet people if I like them, and I hit it off with them then I’ll start flirting.” Then she backtracks. “Actually I’m a really bad flirt.” I just tell her I’ve seen her steaming up the camera and there is no way that is true. “Noooo, really,” she insists “I get shy, it’s weird because I think people think because of what I do I’m like “Da-Na” but at heart I’m very shy. When I’m in front of the camera I know what to do, but I get in a room stuck with four guys, and I’m like the shyest girl in there.

3. DITCH YOGA START FIGHTING

Although Britney was supposed to have six months off last year, in the end she could only cope with four weeks of lounging around the house. “I could sit at home and thumb my nails,” she says “and all my friends have their lives back home. They go to school.” She did have a little fun though - remember when the tabloids were trying to convince us she was an alcoholic because she’d had a few beers. “I’m not a drinker but in those four weeks I did go out a lot. And it got rilly, rilly old.” She laughs.
Still doing that normal stuff was important. “You’ve that gotta have that time for yourself.” She says, getting serious. “There are times when I have to check myself and I’m like “Britney! Go outside, look at the stars! Go freakin’ take a walk down the park.” You have to do it for your wellbeing. I’m a Baptist I grew up going to church, but I think you can have spiritual experiences without going to church.”
Once Britney had been spotted with a book on Zen, some gossipmongers were practically pronouncing her the next Dalai Lama, but in truth Britney didn’t quite get the whole meditation thing. “I tried that but I wasn’t very good at it. Even Yoga. I tried that but I’m a very hyperactive person I’m like “Can we leave now?” I couldn’t just sit there and go “ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmm”, it’s not me.”
She likes something a little fiercer “I love to box” she says enthusiastically. “I can’t even work out by myself anymore because I have all this aggression. So I go and box and I bring my girlfriend Felicia with me and we get off on each other [guys, I don’t think she means it like that]. She’ll say something and I’ll hit her then she’ll hit me back. It’s like a competitive thing.” “Hit me, baby?” I suggest hilariously.
“Oh god!” she says not laughing at all!

4. FIND YOUR INNER VIXEN

After her four weeks off Britney was itching to get back to work on her fourth and new album. “I was going through so much I wanted to write again,” and no before you ask she hasn’t written a response to Justin’s cry me a river. “I’d never do that,” she says, shaking her head “Some people write about exactly what they’re going through at the time, but I needed really light stuff to make me feel good. I’m sure the world doesn’t want to hear my personal baggage, anyway.”
“Erm they really do!” I remind her
“No but I think that’s so self serving. Anyway on the album there are up-tempo songs that get you in the mood because I love to dance. But for the most part it’s a vibe album.”
What she means by “Vibe” is all-out, grown up sexy. Working with everyone from Moby to Cathy Dennis to P.Diddy. Britney’s gone and created one hot little collection of jungle beats and sexy raps, heavy breaths and wittily suggestive lyrics. “I don’t want to be a tease/will you do my zip up please?” is a classic from the track touch of my hand. The record company claims that the song breathe on me is Britney’s own Ray of light, but clearly it’s her Erotica. Even now I can sense the collective parental horror as little girls over the world whisper along to the lines, “Monogamy’s the way to go/just put your lips together and blow.” Shucks, isn’t it great to have Britney back?

5. MOVE TO NEW YORK CITY, BABY

Britney recorded her album in New York having swapped her Hollywood mansion for a downtown apartment. “I love LA but there’s something about the New York energy. It’s so creative” she says, gazing out of the window to the blocks uptown. “When I’m a ready to work and I have my feet on the ground, New York’s the place. I love the people and everyone has a story when you look at them when you’re driving down the street.”
The new chez Britney is a girlie affair. In fact it’s the most girlie apartment you’ve ever seen in your life” She has white chairs for a start. “And I have a piano and a beautiful couch. And I like the fact that’s it’s not so big” For some reason I forget I’m talking to one of the richest 21 year olds in the world and ask, like a fool if it’s just one bedroom. She looks a little embarrassed when she says, “Actually it’s four. But y’know I’m used to living in a huge house in LA. Now I like my home to be a bit more quaint.”
To find out how quaint you just need to find out the story of her new bed. It’s a four-poster, naturally. “But the person I bought it from said it belonged to the English royal family 40 years ago,” she explains (can we get Antiques Roadshow*to check this out? A Britney special?). Her mum didn’t want her to get it because she thought it was too high to sleep in. According to Britney she yelled “Britney you’re not getting that Freakin’ bed!”
But there was an authority more powerful than Lynne Spears at work. “One of my psychics said that in another lifetime it used to be my bed. And they said that it belonged to a princess!” she shrieks. “She could be totally wrong but it’s a nice thought right? Anyway she said the princess used to travel with the bed and they used to piece it together and ship it on boats to wherever she was. Isn’t that cool? And what’s so weird,” she says, near exhausted by her unstoppable enthusiasm, “is that my Grandmother is British!” How do you respond to that? I don’t know. But God bless Britney’s bed. And all who sail in it.
Britney’s new album is out on 28 October.

BRITNEY’S WICKED VICES!

ON BITING HER NAILS

“Am I a worrier? Look at my nails! Do you think I’m a worrier? I’m horrible! It’s so bad. I think I get it from my mom she’s a huge worrier to.”

ON SMOKING

“I want to give up I really do. But when I’m recording, I go into the studio and everyone’s smoking. It’s like a zone you go in. But I’m hoping that when I go on tour I won’t smoke anymore. With all the dancing I won’t be able to.”

ON, LIKE, EPSOM SALTS

“Oh my god, I’m so into having a long bath in Epsom salts. That’s like my meditation. Tonight I’m going to get a massage and take a bath in Epsom salts. You see, I’m quite a boring person, man!”

ON HER LOVE AFFAIR WITH BLONDE

“I was having a huge brain fart when I did the dark hair. My hairdresser persuaded me. And at was first it was cool but then I went on vacation and my girlfriend got her hair highlighted and I was like “man I gotta go back, I wanna be blonde again!”

Britney Raps On New Album, Teaches P. Diddy A Thing Or Two

"As a performer, as an artist, as a songwriter, she ain't no slouch." — P. Diddy

Britney Spears has kept most things about her upcoming album under wraps, but at least one of the producers she's collaborated with confirmed what many have speculated — that the singer, like her recent head-turning photo spreads in the New York Times, W and Elle, is definitely going in a more adult direction.

"We went in the studio and cooked up something hot for the dance floor, made something real sexy," P. Diddy told MTV News backstage at the Video Music Awards last week. "It's going to be great."

Diddy declined to give song titles, since the tracks aren't finished and the album isn't due until November. While other producers who have worked with the singer — including Rodney Jerkins, the Neptunes, 7 Aurelius, the Matrix and Fred Durst — have described Britney's new material as having a trip-hop vibe reminiscent of Madonna's "Ray of Light" (see "Who's Been Hooking Up With Britney? We Got 'Em To Talk"), Diddy said Spears actually has a wider range on the upcoming album, which MTV got a sneak preview of earlier this summer (see "Britney Previews LP, Denies Rumors Of 'Cry Me A River' Response").

Besides ballads, dance tracks and Middle Eastern rhythms, Spears also raps on one track, "Brave Girl." "I think she's giving you a lot to work with," Diddy said. "She's broke out of that just pop [style], just being a pop artist. She's being a trendsetter. She has many styles. You don't know how she's going to come and hit you next."

Diddy said he came out of the sessions with a newfound respect for Spears and found that she had taught him a thing or two as well.

"As a performer, as an artist, as a songwriter, she ain't no slouch," he said. "It was great working with her. She was real quick, real quick. I wouldn't go into the studio with nothing that wouldn't motivate me. The way she did it her way, that motivated me to get with her and give her a bit of my flavor mixed with hers, to get her to do something combustionable.

"Is that a word?" he asked, laughing.

Spears plans to unveil two new songs during her performance at the NFL Kickoff concert, which will be televised live on ABC at 8 p.m. ET September 4 (see "Britney Spears To Perform Two New Songs On NFL TV Special").

Britney Spears debuted the first full song off her upcoming record Thursday on ABC's "NFL Kickoff Live," but despite the primetime unveiling, "Me Against the Music" isn't necessarily going to be the new disc's first single.

Wearing a cropped referee's shirt, Spears sang a medley of "... Baby One More Time" and "I'm a Slave 4 U" after finishing the RedZone-produced song dance tune, which features a near rap and tribal rhythms. "Dance all night," she exhorts on the song, demanding that "All the people in the crowd, grab a partner, take it down/ All my people in the crowd, let me see you dance."

Speaking to MTV News prior to her performance, Spears would only confirm that a video shoot for the first single is taking place in the next two weeks. "I can't tell you what the first single is going to be," Spears said, "but there are some surprises that are going to come up in the song that I'm really excited about."

One of her producers, P. Diddy, spoke to MTV News last week about a song he was working on with Spears, but at the time it had no title (see "Britney Raps On New Album, Teaches P. Diddy A Thing Or Two"). This week it does: "The Answer."

"I was very impressed with [Diddy]," Spears said. "He's very family-man-oriented, he brought his kids in. His studio and the people he works with, the people he does tracks with, are, like, amazing. He's a cool guy."

Spears also had high praise for Moby, who worked with her on the mid-tempo "Early Morning."

"He's such a pure-hearted guy," she said. "He's so cool. He just played me a really cool track, and I thought it was brilliant. I just came up with stuff to go over it, and I hope he likes it. I don't know if he's heard it yet, but I like it. It's one of my favorite tracks on the record."

The track is a day-after hangover song, balancing other party-hard tunes that might make the album. "Some songs are just written generally about going out and wanting to have a good time," she said. "I was writing about a lot of stuff in general — going out with my girlfriends, everyday experiences I was going through.

"Like, 'Early Morning' is basically talking about just going out and feeling bad the next day, and 'Touch of My Hand' is about, you know, touch of my hand," she continued (see "Britney Previews LP, Denies Rumors Of 'Cry Me A River' Response"). "You'll have to hear the song and get your own interpretation of what you think it's about. Other songs are just very sensual, very sensual songs."

A single girl for the past year, Spears said she's trying hard not to let anything from her romantic life influence the record.

"Some people choose to put on their records stuff that's very, very personal to them. It's just my personal opinion, but that's exposing yourself a little bit too much. I don't feel comfortable doing that. So, my personal life? I've learned my lesson is to just keep it to yourself. I don't think it's cool to do that at other people's expense, if you understand what I'm trying to say. That's not what it's about for me personally. Some people, they like to bring other things into it, and that's fine. They've got to go to bed with that at night."

Right now, the main thing on Spears' mind is keeping things off her mind, so she can focus on completing the album.

"I'm thinking about it now, like, 'Oh my God, you know what? I can't think about it,' " she said. "You just have to do it, let it come out, and pray people like it. Honestly, when you're in the studio, all you can do ... is just go inside yourself, and trust me, I've had time to do that. You just really go there and do what feels right. And it's not about selling 50 million records. It's just expressing myself the way I want to express myself, and as long as you do that and you're happy with that, that's all that matters."

No track list is available for the as-yet-untitled album, since Spears is still recording, her label spokesperson said.

Britney Romps On Bed, Loses Her Shirt At Surprise Vegas Show

Britney Spears previewed another new song this weekend, but instead of broadcasting it to a live audience, she debuted it to a Las Vegas crowd in a surprise — and steamy — performance.

Spears took the stage at Rain, a nightclub within the Palms hotel-casino, at 1 a.m. Sunday morning. About 1,800 people were in attendance, but they weren't expecting nor were they charged for a show from Spears — they were just there to dance. The DJ music stopped, Rain co-owner Scott DeGraff told MTV News, and people were bewildered as a group of five or six dancers took the stage, shielding the singer. When she broke out from behind them, the crowd roared.

"We've done a lot of crazy things," DeGraff said. "This is going to be a tough one to top. There were an awful lot of celebrities there, from Dr. J to Michael Keaton, and they were all surprised. Only a very select group of people knew about it, the ones who had to pull it off."

Spears started her 30-minute set with "Me Against the Music," which she previously performed at the NFL Kickoff Live concert (see "Britney Spears To Perform Two New Songs On NFL TV Special"), and unveiled "Breathe on Me," both from her still-untitled next album, due November 18. During her performance, a giant black-and-white daybed lounger rolled out onstage. Spears and her dancers crawled on the floor to get to it, and then crawled onto it and each other while pretending to make out. One of the singers ripped Spears' top off, exposing her red bra.

"This wasn't a Madonna situation," DeGraff said. "But there were simulated gyrations."

Spears also did a medley of the previous hits "I'm a Slave 4 U" and "Oops! ... I Did It Again."

Britney Gets Down With Madonna Again

Britney Spears is hooking up with Madonna once again — this time for the first single from her forthcoming album, now titled Get in the Zone.

Though Spears was coy about what the first single would be when MTV News talked to her following her NFL Kickoff Live performance (see "Britney Talks New Album But Remains Coy On First Single"), it turns out that the song she previewed that night, "Me Against the Music," will indeed be her first released track, featuring Madonna. The duo, of course, most recently caused controversy when they locked lips at the MTV Video Music Awards (see "Madonna Smooches With Britney and Christina; Justin, Coldplay Win Big At VMAs"). The single — co-written by Spears and produced by RedZone — ships to radio on September 30, with a video set to premiere on MTV on October 13.

Get in the Zone will feature 13 tracks in all, seven of which were co-written by the singer. Some of the tracks slated to be on the album include "Early Mornin' " (produced by Moby), "Outrageous" (R. Kelly), "Every Time" (Guy Sigsworth) and "Showdown" (Bloodshy & Avant).

There's no word yet if the new track Spears unveiled this weekend in Las Vegas, "Breathe on Me," will also make the final track list (see "Britney Romps On Bed, Loses Her Shirt At Surprise Vegas Show"). Other songs that could be included on Get in the Zone are "The Answer" (P. Diddy), "Shadow" (the Matrix), "Brave New Girl," and "Touch of My Hand" the latter two of which she previewed for MTV earlier this year (see "Britney Previews LP, Denies Rumors Of 'Cry Me A River' Response").

Get in the Zone is due out November 18.

Two New Song Titles Given in New Brazilian Interview
Britney recently did an interview with the Brazilian magazine Capricho. In it two new song titles were named. "Toxic Guy" and "Chaotic". Thanks to >>BritneyNow for the original interview in Portuguese. I translated it into English for the rest of us.

-Avril made some comments about u?
Brit:Who?
-Avril Lavigne
Brit: Honestly i don't really know her that well but i really don't care what she says. But the music she makes is great. What I do know is that in this life not everyone is gonna like you.
-What are your favorite cds?
Brit: Black Eyed Peas and Thicke
-Who do you admire in pop music?
Brit: I love Shakira. I think she's the best. The new Christina Aguilera album is awesome and I love it too. I like Avril's album [Laughs]
-Speaking of Christina, [the press] was making her feel bad about her weight lately.
Brit: Why? What's wrong with her?
-They said she was gettin chubby
Brit: That is so sad. She is beautiful. (Literally it's she has a great appearance but that's not good english ) The press always wants to say something. The funny thing is they criticize me for my hair being so neat/clean. They say: "Oh she wants to be perfect. Is this a message we want to send to our kids?" So if i gain 5 kilos(what is that in pounds?) then they change their subject and say that I'm fat. You can't win and I learned that I just have to make me happy.

Review:
The cd is 95% dance. Outrageous (for some reason they're saying the album is titled that) They run through the tracks and say that they're well produced and inventive and consistent. They say the album is not personal and does not include a rebuttal to Justin's "Cry Me A River". They say that ironically Britney's first single MATM is the least memorable of her new songs. Then they say that three tracks have the possibility of becoming big hits. Touch Of My Hand, a ballad with a japanese opening then with violins, Outrageous by R.Kelly, the only song Britney did not co-write. and Chaotic where the blonde is once again on fire. (LOL I think they mean sexually)

Part 2

-One of the most danceable songs from your new cd is the song "Toxic Guy". Let me try to understand, is this type of guy good or bad?
Brit: The "toxic guy" is in. The guy who never thinks anything is good enough for him, he's not always politically correct, he's not everyone's best friend and he always likes to hear the right voice all the time.(This last sentence got fuddled for me). I like these kind of guys.
-Is there a "toxic guy" in your life right now?
Brit: No, but we're not even going to get into that because I'm not doing very well in that department.
-What's your idea of a good first date?
Brit: To be very close the whole time. No, no, close, no. Don't say that I said that. [laughs]. Go to the movies, eat a bag of popcorn, and put the popcorn in the mouth of the other person like it was a game. (Again sentence got kinda fuddled. Not sure if she means feed the other person the popcorn or literally put it in their mouth while its in ur mouth).
-Do you have dreams of getting married and living a normal life?
Brit: Of course! But maybe that'll happen when I get around 30 or so. Maybe I'll marry, have three kids, a nice house, and lots of time to myself. But honestly, I don't think I'm gonna have that. [laughs] I love what I do and it's hard to think of not doing it one day.
-You're a well paid singer. What was your biggest expense recently?
Brit: My car, for sure. Also a house in LA, that i just got done selling to Brittany Murphy.
-You have a car?
Brit: Of course. A Mercedes 500, white and convertible.
-Everyone has an opinion about you. Which image of you do you think is most wrong?
Brit: There's so many. A lot of people think my life is glamourous but it isn't. Obviously there are days where my hair looks really nice and my make-up is on point, but my day-to-day appearance looks like I'm a contestant on Survivor.
-Do you have plans to tour Brasil?
Brit: At the moment i have no idea where I will be touring. A good part of the tour will be in the US and only later on can I say what countries I will be visitng. But I want to, I love the way Brazilians dress.

Spears: I Want A Toxic Guy
Contact Music reports Formerly angelic pop star BRITNEY SPEARS is hunting for a "toxic guy" to date - because she's sick of nice men.

The SLAVE 4 U singer has dismantled her girl-next-door appeal in preparation for her comeback album, due for release in November (03) - and now she wants an edgy man to match her new image.

Spears, who has been linked to COLIN FARRELL, FRED DURST and JARED LETO since splitting from JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, explains, "I like toxic guys. A toxic guy is someone you can't get enough of, the type of guy I want around me. I like someone who's not always politically correct and who's not everyone's best friend.

"He doesn't love to hear himself speak for the sake of it. He's just cool. It's refreshing to be with a toxic guy. Someone who doesn't care what people think."

Ying Yang Twins Record With Britney
AllHipHop.com reported that Atlanta's Ying Yang Twins are experiencing the most success of their career, after putting in years of work down south and releasing such regional hits as "Ying Yang In This Thang" and "Whistle While You Twurk."

After striking it big this year on Lil Jon & The Eastside Boyz' "Get Low," as well as their own single "Naggin," group members D-Rock and Kaine have recorded a single with Britney Spears, hoping the track will dramatically raise their rising profiles.

"It was totally out of left field," group member Kaine told AllHipHop.com. "The Ying Yang Twins and Britney Spears, it sounds crazy, but the track we did will show everyone that the Ying Yang Twins are versatile."

The single, "I Got That Boom Boom," is earmarked for Spears' latest album Get In The Zone. The group's manager and DJ, DJ Smurf, said that Spears wanted the duo off of the strength of "Get Low."

"The good thing is, the song they did isn't outside of what she does or outside of what they do," Smurf added. "She just wanted them on the cut because she wanted that hip-hop element."

The way Spears talks these days, it seems like Madonna might've shared more than saliva with her during their now-notorious MTV make-out session. On her forthcoming album, Britney rips a page from the Middle-Aged Material Woman's playbook, redefining herself to stay relevant. ''She opened the door for every woman out there to have balls and believe in herself,'' the spicy-tongued Spears says of her pop progenitor, who's featured on first single ''Me Against the Music.''

Though eclectic, the disc has a more mature sound, dominated by slinky lounge beats and forays into dancehall and trip-hop. ''It's moody and vibey,'' says Spears, who helped pick the CD's diverse producers, including Moby and the Matrix. ''It's the kind of music where you want to light candles and listen to it with a partner.''

Lyrically, the album represents Spears at her boldest. ''Showdown,'' she says, is ''about make-up sex,'' while the R. Kelly-produced ''Outrageous'' features the once-celebrated virgin moaning about ''my sex drive'' and, curiously enough, a ''trench coat in my underwear.'' ''R. Kelly wrote that and he brought his own ghetto slang,'' Spears explains, offering that it might be a reference to a thong. ''I'm at a place where I can express myself a little more and say things that are a little more adult because I'm getting older.'' ''Brave New Girl'' features Britney's first attempt at rapping. ''The track was so bangin','' she enthuses. ''I said 'Let's just do this!' and I started rapping.''

As jam-packed as the CD is, there are some big omissions. Gossip columnists will rue the lack of response to Justin Timberlake's reported Spears snipe ''Cry Me a River.'' And there's nothing produced by Fred Durst, whose studio work with Spears spawned rumors of a hookup. ''Oh, no! God, no!'' she says when asked if Durst made the cut. ''That was just an experiment.''
