Okay-I have to say this-we were there and it was great. The cost to enter at the door was just $40. The prizes were AMAZING for that price. My dd won 3 trophies. They were all very large for the cost of the pageant. I thought the family was friendly and their son didn't compete. That is just a rumor that one mad momma is spreading. Her son was against the boy and lost and she had a comeundone. I mean she was horrible and I know I would feel just so ashamed if I had conducted myself that way in front of peoples kids. My dd asked me if the pm was high. It was that bad. The second the pageant ended instead of walking up to director with concerns-she took it upon herself to start gossiping and was pretty mean with it. (this would get you kicked out at most pageants). Then-when she finally went to director (only after getting caught gossiping about the little boy who won to HIS MOM-she threw a FIT! i I mean it was just plain tacky. The director informed her that the boy was NOT a relative. He was the son of the tabulator-and NOT related to a judge. I know people could argue COI on this one-and I could see her being miffed about it-but we all need to act as adults-ESPECIALY when our kids are watching. She should have approached director privately and instead it became a yelling match. It was so bad that the mom demanded to see the scores (as in ALL). The director said she would mail her her sons scores. She then said, "I'll bet you will", so at that assumption, the director then showed ALL scores so she wouldn't keep on with that insinuation. Well-that didn't make it better and she continued on until she was finally asked to leave. Even then she wouldn't let up and the director had to instruct all her helpers to quit responding to the mom because she needed to leave. It was shocking. Me and 3 other moms were speachless. The director said she may not bring this system to southern IL anymore now. So once again-one moms tirade has cost us a great system stopping in. It was ran well and everyone got something. I would also like to point out that this mom on her way out of the room gave the director a piece of paper with this voy addy on it and when the director said-"what's this?" She said-you may want to read it later (hinting that she was going to be ripping this new system). How sad is that? Really-so now the voy boards are a weapon? I was just so ashamed of how this pm acted and for the record-after she left both the boy and his mother were in tears.
