Think of it that each couple is holding right hands. Everyone sidesteps to the left- the gent moving to the right of his partner, between her and the other lady on the side (top gent between top lady and 2nd side lady, 2nd side gent between them on the other side, facing out. The opp top gent does the same thing with the 1st side couple. It looks like the two gents in each 'square' are back to back, with the two side gents facing each other in the centre on an angle and the two top gents facing out to the corners. The ladies face each other in each 'square'. The gents take hands with the lady who is not their partner so all are in these squares. Then, after dancing the 2 short threes, gents release their partners hands, turn the other lady with the left hand, drop her hand and return to place, gents passing right shoulders, and ladies also returning to place. Then they all take hands and swing around.

Hope that helped! May have made it more confusing - sorry! Basically it's like two square/circle things on an angle, with the gents facing out and the ladies facing in (centre gents facing each other)
