In reply to: just a few ?'s I have 's message, "I just rcvd a tip on practicing scoring at feis & would like to know if others feel this is helpful- most of comps near me have 20-30 dancers which is overwhelming to score. I was told to score only a few of them per comp. Also, make no markings on what they were wearing to help you remember them, why is that? Should I give more helpful criticism to the best dancer." on 08:20:42 04/17/10 Sat

to get a feel for how long it takes and what you find important enough to mark. But I think you would need to move on to the whole comp. eventually. How can you check your marks against the results board unless you score everyone? maybe start with beginner comps or AB hard shoe. TJ's are long enough to give you the time you need and the timing faults etc are pretty easy to pick out.
Make as many notes as you can along the way to help you remember the dancers. Not writing anything might test your memory but then you are guessing which in the long run will not be helpful.
