Subject: I agree. I watched (Derry) a beg. light jig comp and the first two were many apart (more)
In reply to: any advice would be appreciated 's message, "Hi d, can you tell me how you spread the points? I have a heck of a time with that. What if you place your 1st 4 dancers scores far apart but they end up your 1st, 2nd 3rd places? I was knocked for that. I thought the others would be closer in skill. Also, I have a hard time with beginner judging but that's another question :) One more thing, did you watch utube videos of ceilis or solos?" on 13:07:36 05/25/10 Tue

Then the rest were in between those. It was a group of beginner dancers, from the same school, of VERY similar ability. I explained that in my interview, but apparently that wasn't good enough. Frankly I think it's silly as you go to any feis and those competitions are stacked up by a point. Even the majors, raw scores are very close. There is no set scoring system but you are docked for not using some sort of unwritten system that you don't use later? This sounds bad, but I honestly think they already decided I wasn't passing before I walked in the door.
