Somberly walking round the school, nto yet any friends, Lydia somehow works her way upinot the owlery. Perch 'pon perch sits owls of many colour. Aware that she has not yet got one she sits in a empty perch and thinks. Suddenly in a uproar of wings and commotion of feathers a blue black owl enters. His wings are ladden with mud and his coat is dank and dusty. She waits for him to find his perch but he doesn't move from the window. Advancing slowly she outstreches her arm. Hopping onto it he begins to preen, ruffling his feathers she works her way to his head and thne is entrapped by his spine tngling eyes of blue! Vivldy wobbling she regains her balnce. he doesn't belong to anyone, so she coes soflty in his ear. "don't worry boy" she whispers "i'll look after you". He hoots affectionatly and nibbles at her fingers. Stroking his shimmering feathers she baths him and then places a tag upon an empty space. It reads - Diego- his feathers ruffle and shine green and blue in the sunlight. Hushing a farewell she returns to the stair case in search of a new friend.
