I know for myself, friends and family smoking increased during that time. I know some who had quit returned to it with even heavier habit than before. Lighter smokers increased their consumption. A friend who's wife hadn't smoked since high school walked up to her husband one day and just said "Screw it, give me one of those." I'm sure a lot of young kids either started during it or increased.

I'm curious what other people's experience was with this with their family and friends?
