Subject: Virus Advice AKA How to avoid being infected and what to do if you are

Ok, just some background on me.. I used to work for a very BIG AV company as technical support. I've got a couple yrs of "hands on" to work from. Anyhow.. here's my advice:

1)Install some sort of Anti-virus program on your computer right now if you don't already have some.

2)If you already have AV software installed, make sure it's current/up to date.

3)Never, ever download files from the internet. How do you think viruses get around? lol.. downloading what you think is a game or maybe some oddball email with a simple attachment? Only get files from those you can trust 100%.

4)Once you have AV installed on your pc, automate a system scan weekly.

5)If for some reason you're reading this because you already have a virus, beat your head on the wall a few times for being a dum dum. Then read on.

6)If you have a virus, it's got a name. Look up that name at your friendly AV web site. ( McAfee.com / Symantec.com ). They will advise on how to correct this problem.

Summary: It's just common sense. If it looks funky, it probably is. When in doubt, scan it! If I had a $1 for every person that said "I got a virus" and "I disabled my AV", I'd be rich. Not much else to say. :)
