I suppose there will always be some distractions or misperceptions with every pageant, however, it's time to put all the negative behind and not let the things in life turn into big, non-significant things. First, a big congratulatins to Michelle Evans, our new Mrs. America!!! She is stunning and I'm sure will do an amazing job representing women everywhere. Enjoy this amazing year Michelle.
Second, while there have been many, many negative things said about some of the delegates and/or family members, let's not forget that one judge, alone, can make or break the overall contestant's scores. The scoring system is set up to prevent this from happening. I believe that any one of the ladies who competed could have made wonderful representatives. We may not always agree with the outcome, we may think we know things that seem to make things not right, they might not even be right, but at the end of the day, life isn't always fair. There will always be some flaw in ourselves, our jobs, our children, our spouses, our neighbors, and yes, even in the pageant world. I think that the place to vent our frustrations is not in public or on public sites as it serves no purpose but to only make the one posting it look like she has to defend herself or look like she didn't walk away with a winning attitude. Frankly, there could have been 52 women who competed in this last pageant who deserved to be in the top 15. I'm sure it was a very hard choice for the judges as there were SO MANY beautiful, talented, and amazing women competing. Having judged a number of pageants, I know there is a fair amount of subjectivity which goes into judging and, thankfully, we don't all think alike. That is what creates diveristy and helps the world go round:) It doesn't matter what you post or say, people will believe what they want to believe!!! That's how we are wired. When was the last time you read a pageant VoyForum and changed your opinion about a delegate based on what was written on the Voy Forum? I believe that probably doesn't happen very often. As such, the words being posted can hurt for a lifetime. Please ladies, be kind. Fall back on your mother's old saying of: "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Leave the past in the past. There isn't anything that will change that now. Maybe learn from mistakes that may have happened and try not to repeat them. That is what looking to the past is best utilized for.
Let's focus on the good and congratulate and support our new Mrs. America, Michelle Evans.
