Subject: * Miss Universe Delegates Return Home *

After 3 weeks of fake smiles, tons of make up, rehearsals, no sleep, Thursday & Friday, the 74 Miss Universe delegates will leave the island of Puerto Rico to return to their normal lives.

Colombia was the first delegate to leave, she left Thursday morning at 8am. Not placing in the top 10 was a dissapointment for her, her country & Puerto Rico who consistantly was a press favorite. The 2nd delegate who left was Ecuador who gave kisses to the cameras that followed. Phillippines missed her flight at 9:30am but to her luggage being misplaced, so she had to take a later flight.

Unfortuanantly, though, I am proud of Shuantay (USA), she did not know sportsmanship Wednesday night. After the calling of the top 10, she went backstage & cried. Because she did not make the top 10, it seems that she did not appear back on stage for the semi-final competitions. She only appeared onstage during the Awards & crowning. Instead of attending the Coronation Ball with the other delegates, she left in a taxi, also something about her misplacing her ID & Credit Card. In response to not making the top 10, Shauntay made this statement "I am well", she looked annoyed & very tired & very sad. She has now returned to the United States where she will contiune her reign as Miss USA.

Uruguay it seems to have lost her camera, however, it was recovered. Egypt who is leaving Friday morning invited members of the press to come shop with her. Miss Universe 2001, returns to normal life, leaving her reign behind Thursday morning.

Delegate FINAL Comments:

Brazil: "I feel well, the one that won is very beautiful. She thanked the people of Puerto Rico & her supporters. She hopes to return soon to enjoy the beaches. She notes that she was very surprised that a black woman was not called into the top 10. She had hoped to see Colombia, Dominican Republic & Ghana competing Wednesday night.

Dominican Republic: "I want everyone to know that although I did not win the crown, we left a very good impression". She was content with her non top 10 placement & thanked everyone for all the support she had received. Also, she says that she was surprised to see Panama in the top 10.

Peru: "I hoped that Colombia & Dominican Republic would have been present in the top 10". She says all of the girls in the top 10 were surprises but the final result was well accepted by al lthe delegates.

Mauritious: "I am in favor contented of the selection, with so much beauty surrounded between all the delegates". She states that it does not matter if the blacks we were not selected, all of the black delegates including herself did very well.

* Coronation Ball *

Donald Trump made his grand entrance with an immense amount of bodyguards. However, he was allowed to be approched by both Venezuela & Panama who told him, she would see him next year for Miss Universe 2003!!

Both Dominican Republic & USA did not attend the Coronation Ball. Dominican Republic went to a private celebration that was held in her honor in the Dominican community in Puerto Rico. USA left the crowning because she was too hurt & thus returned to her hotel room. It seems that she was dissapointed that she did not make the top 10 & took the news very hard.

At 1:30am, Puerto Rico made her entrance with her fiance. It seems that many of the delegates ditched the Coronation Ball to party with Marc Anthony, more about that later. Many of the delegates were happy with the crowning of Russia as the new Miss Universe.

Venezuela: She states that she is satisfied with her 4th runner up placement. Also, she thinks Miss Universe is GEORGEOUS, a well deserved triumph. Her entrage of people did not allow for interviews because of the immense amount of pictures that were being taken of her.

South Africa: She states that she felt comfortable with the decision, Miss Universe is beautiful, however, they will have to work on her english. >> Rican talkin: She could have kept that last comment to herself, that makes it seem like she is jelous.

China: Only replied "I really like Russia, Miss Universe".

Panama: States "I am contented with the result. She is a great representative and I know that she will do it well". She wishes her good luck.

* A Look Back at the Live Telecast *

It seems that the Opening number had a mistake, that the j�bara that was present is not part of Puerto Rican culture. Something about this, I didnt really understand what they were talking about.

It also seems that the Puerto Ricans were not happy with Marc Anthonys performence. They say that it is unfortuante that he had to follow Ricky Martins performence from last year.

* Private Party by Marc Anthony*

Surounded by bodyguards, he entered his celebration in San Juan. However, it seems that Dyanara was not present at her husbands function. I guess she remained at the Miss Universe Coronation Ball. Donald Trump & Scott Grossman were in attendence. Also the delegates from Sweden, France, Chile, US Virgin islands, India & Antigua and Barbuda were in attendence. Also, Puerto Rico & her fiance attended the event.

I think Puerto Rico made this comments about USA & Dominican Republic not making the top 10. She states that only the judges knows the criteria evaluation for the new Miss Universe. She is happy with her performence. She also states that though Russia does not speak english (I guess alot od delegates are upset about this), she is beautiful & likeable.

* Dominican Republic still the Press Favorite *

Dominican Republic probally feels the most dissapointed. Of all the Miss Universe delegates, she has been under the biggest amount of pressure. Though, she was not in the top 10, she handled it well. She left Thursday afternoon with a warm goodbye from the Dominican Republic Council in San Juan. She gave this statement "Many people have expressed to me that they are disappointed, but they do not have to be, the triumph I take it in the heart because I gained the affection and affection of the Dominican ones and the Puerto Ricans". Ruth expresses this not the last time she will be seen, she will be moving to the USA where she has been offered to model in New York & Miami!

Many people in Puerto Rico think the judges were racist (Yes, it happened again at Miss Universe). However, the parents of Dominican Republic state "the judges were looking for another type of beauty & we respect that". However, this time they eliminated the black race completely from the top 10 they state. At her official goodbye breakfast, she gave a thumbs up to the delegate from Puerto Rico who she says was an excellent host.

She returned to Dominican Republic Thursday evening. She will be crowning the new Miss Dominican Republic in July. She has been offered to come visit the governor of Puerto Rico. Basically, Ruth has received so many invites, too many to list. Lets just say, not being called in the top 10 sometimes works in the delegates favor.

* Puerto Ricans try to figure out, Why Didnt They Make It? *

The elimination of Puerto Rico was traumatic for the island. They thought they could possibly repeat with another Miss Universe. However, they begin to analyze, exactly, what went wrong?

It states that this years top 10 brings up a considerable amount of questions. For example, India with her wide hips & something about her skin. They argue that both Russias preliminary & final night gown was not the best. They also state that Albanias red dress did not belong. However, the President, explained that the winner had to project an "ANGEL" quality, in addition to beauty & intelligence.

They begin to observe the top 5 and state that they all had the "Mortica Adams Look". An abundace of white skin & dark hair. However, Puerto Rico changed her hair to red & added contact lenses, maybe she should have kept her original look. It goes on to state that because it was held in the carribean, no Carribean country made the top 10, not even the beautiful black delegates.

Regardless of the press she has received for not making the top 10, Puerto Rico states that her performence was excellent, & she entered to shine, and she says she did.

* Miss Universe 2002 Ends *

"I AM happier than ever before in my life", the new Miss Universe states during the Press Conference. She stated that she will be learning english as soon as possible. "I felt in the deepest of my soul support of Puerto Rico, although she was single (without endorsement of a delegation of its country)", expressed the beauty of 24 years". She was serenaded by Tyrese with the song "You are so Beautiful".

It seems that Mary Hilliard commanded Miss Universe 2002 & 2001 to shut up, so they could not answer many questions. It seems Miss Universe was only given about 10 minutes to speak. Many press wanted to talk to Miss Universe 2001, however, PR for Miss Universe stated, she could only be contacted through E-mail by her father.
