If you havent noticed when you enter the cathedral doors they close and lock behind you. Then you get the eye and get back to the doors and their locked and the eye says some arrogant crap about you having finding another way. Here's how to shut him up. When you first start out in the level staring at the cathedral doors turn straight around and go get a skull. Open up the door and drop the skull so that it props the door open. It's as simple as that. Go get the eye and go about your business.
