Subject: Word Definitions

Today we want to look at word definitions. And for once, this is not about T. Cardenas. This is for whom it concerns, those who will find and read this posting. And believe me it is only a small shot across the bow.

Recently I gave a dissertaion wherein I had to describe the unpleasantries of young boys going into the penal system. I must insert here that although qualified to be a prison guard or on a prison staff, I have refused to occupy any such a position. Primary reason being the recidivism rate is so high I feel like I would be wasting my time. Followed by being subject to riots and complete lockdowns. As one who visits prisons for the Assemblies of Yahweh ministry, I have been in multiple prisons over the years in a ministerial capacity. I have been told about possible riots and lock downs by the prison staff. You are, so-to-speak, on your own should something like this occur. They will try to protect you if they can, so they say. Anyway, back to the talk/class I taught and the use of a word used to describe in the "Scared Straight" vernacular, what a young boy becomes (or can become) when he becomes incarcerated, a "bitch." This means that the boy becomes the female counterpart of some bad man who beats and rapes them into subjection. Anyway, it seems that some, one or two were offended at this descriptive terminology. Let us look at this definition, and several others.

Definition of BITCH
1 the female of the dog or some other carnivorous mammals
2 a lewd or immoral woman b: a malicious, spiteful, or overbearing woman —sometimes used as a generalized term of abuse
3 something that is extremely difficult, objectionable, or unpleasant
4 complaint

Examples of BITCH
That word is a bitch to spell.

Origin of BITCH
Middle English bicche, from Old English bicce
First Known Use: before 12th century

Related to BITCH
Synonyms: beef, complaint, bleat, carp, fuss, grievance, gripe, grouch, grouse, grumble, holler, kvetch, lament, miserere, moan, murmur, plaint, squawk, wail, whimper, whine, whinge [British], yammer

This word implies something that is objectionable to be or become. The unpleasantries of a young man or women being turned into something they were not intended to be is very difficult. As I have taken multiple psychology courses for my criminology major, I can assure you that this quandry is very difficult to overcome for those who were sexuallay sodomized in prison. It is a stigma that can last a lifetime especially if they marry and have children of their own. Speaking of sodomy, let's see the definition of this word for a better understanding of the terminology.

Definition of SODOMY
anal or oral copulation with a member of the same or opposite sex; also: copulation with an animal — sod·om·it·ic or sod·om·it·i·cal adjective

Origin of SODOMY
Middle English, from Anglo-French sodomie, from Late Latin Sodoma Sodom; from the homosexual proclivities of the men of the city in Genesis 19:1–11
First Known Use: 13th century

Okay, let's look at one who commits this heinous act aka a sodomite.

Definition of SODOMITE
one who practices sodomy

One final definition that come to mind here is incest.

Definition of INCEST
sexual intercourse between persons so closely related that they are forbidden by law to marry; also: the statutory crime of such a relationship

Definition of INCESTUOUS
1 constituting or involving incest
2 guilty of incest
3 excessively or improperly intimate or exclusive — in·ces·tu·ous·ly adverb — in·ces·tu·ous·ness noun

Pennsylvania Law-- Section 4302-- Incest

A person is guilty of incest, a felony of the second degree, if that person knowingly marries or cohabits or has sexual intercourse with an ancestor or descendant, a brother or sister of the whole or half blood or an uncle, aunt, nephew or niece of the whole blood. The relationships referred to in this section include blood relationships without regard to legitimacy, and relationship of parent and child by adoption.

I think that those who find this post will get the point, perhaps definitions are not something you want to look into. These definitions can be coupled with names if you/they insist on putting pressures on the wrong people. Was/is there a Torah violation here by the use of the "B" word? There are those that one should just leave alone, do you think? Specifically a wordsmith who actually knows the meaning of words and their application.

All definitions taken from Merriam Webster Dictionary 2011
