Things I learned this weekend, CLICK IN -- Pissed Off., 16:57:23 11/07/10 Sun [49]
1. Natural is not natural. Natural is glitz with no fake hair or teeth or eyelasshes.
2. When the director says no pro am, and then enforces it loudly after a child's pro am routine to the judges, the child still wins a big supreme title.
3. A certain coach can completely control an entire pageant, even the director.
4. If you are 14 and wear a bathing suit that is made to look like a tuxedo, that is ok for casual wear. Adding some small tails and something to the front of swimwear officially turns it into casual wear, and you will win ultimate supreme. You will look like a tramp on stage, but it is ok because your coach is controlling the pageant.
5. It is ok for one girl to do clothing tricks, even when the rules say no clothing tricks. She can wear a wrap over her swimsuit, do a million tricks with the wrap on stage and proam her ass off, and still win ultimate supreme.
6. Girls who have the ability to proam, yet toned it down for this pageant did terrible, while the ones who did not tone it down still took home big titles. But of course only those with one certain coach. If you were with another coach, did an incredible couple of routines like no one has ever seen in their life, you win a finalist title. There was one girl who was out of this world and took home nothing. Just a finalist title.
7. Even though rules state no touched up photos, it is apparently ok to submit photos that have clearly been over touched, softened, eyes brightened, lipstick added, etc. and still take all the photogenic awards. You can even have on a wig in your NYC photo and win ultimate supreme and print model with your 'natural' hair photo. Hahahaha best laugh of my life. Yes, that was a wig. Her coach proudly tells everyone they invested in a wig for that photo shoot.
8. You can have a gorgeous professional natural photo where not even a hair is touched up so you can prove it was natural and not retouched, have 50 people tell you this is a beautiful photo, and get the lowest photo scores in your age group. Many girls had gorgeous headshots and port shots that were professional, but not retouched, and did terrible.
9. It is ok for Mr. Tim to now play upbeat music for beauty wear and throw many girls off in beauty with it, rather than the classic slower beauty music. For a few groups he was playing more upbeat Justin Bieber music. Threw many girls off.
10. It is apparently ok for a girl to win a Novice supreme who has won over the alloted money. It is also ok for that girl to proam her ass off because she is with a certain coach.
11. Back to basics means that everyone CAN do their own hair and makeup, but they can NOT win. Even one of their current royalty put this in her message in the program. She said that many years ago she entered NES and they did her own hair and makeup and wore a dress that was too big on her. After coaching, pro hair and makeup and getting the right clothes, she won. When your own royalty is putting that in your program, you need to reevaluate what your system has become.

13. $15,000 for one prize brings out a SHITLOAD of nasty behind the scenes.

All we can say is NATURAL MY FUCKING ASS. If you are actually going to have rules, then FUCKING ENFORCE THEM. NO hair or makeup vendors allowed. No fake tans. Everyone has to do their own damn hair and makeup. Straight runway modeling with 2 cute moves allowed. Do not say this is NYC runway modeling and allow this shit. Last time I saw an NYC fashion show the models were not doing pro am down the fucking runway. The models were not spinning around, doing hand movements, slides, etc. etc. etc.
Keep it fair. Keep it to a straight T walk with posing on the X's.
If you want to hold a pageant like the one you just did, then fucking call it a LOW LEVEL GLITZ PAGEANT.
None of these girls looked natural. All the girls who won anything had a tan, most had professional heavy makeup. Hair was glitzy and was just minus the fake shit.

Tammy we love you. You put on a well run pageant and a fun party, but time to re-evaluate this back to basics bullshit. It is not back to basics where anyone can win. It is a low glitz pageant where the over coached people with the most money can win. I would much rather have a pageant that actually IS back to basics and enforced with only $1000 in top prize money, then see what I saw this weekend.
Stop letting these girls come out dressed like sluts. I saw only a handful of girls 11+ years that were age appropriate. Some of the 11-17 crowd downright scared me. Even one or 2 of the 9-10 year olds did.

Stop the tans, the vendor h/m, 'almost' pro am routines and GO BACK TO BASICS, or call the pageant something else.
