I looked around online and The Hammer Story (2007) by Marcus Hearn is considered one of the best books around on the subject, just as Rick said.

I also see Hearn has another book out, The Art of Hammer: The Official Poster Collection from the Archive of Hammer Films (2010). It's a hardcover collection of many of the Hammer movie posters, so it's a bit more pricey. The Hammer Story sounds like a much better buy.

Hammer often used technicolor, some blood and violence, as well as those lovely Hammer Glamour gals. Some of their posters are pretty iconic.

Horror of Dracula was titled Dracula when first released in the UK in 1958. This is the original poster art, according to Wikipedia.

Wanting to refresh myself on the Hammer movies, I ordered up "The Hammer Story"...was about $23 on Amazon, about half of cover price. (Christopher Lee is on dust cover as Dracula.) I've been thumbing thru it...the book seems quite good, interesting, informative, colorful, profusely illustrated, a nice coffee table type book, well written it seems also. Get it if you can. You may have to add a little to make the free S&H min. of $25. Go ahead, treat yourself.

I have read up to page 89 so far and an excellent book in all respects. The authors did an exhaustive job and it goes nicely with buying the movies along with it. Well worth the money.
