Subject: PJ's life right now - I am bored!

So, they say I can't go to school or do much for about six weeks. I have been moved to homebound status at school. Mom brings me a package of school work for the week and I do it and she gives me any tests on Saturday. It keeps me current and I can be counted as attending school. Mom likes for me to work on my school package every morning starting at 8:00. Works for me. I work for 3 or 4 hours and then I eat lunch and rest. Mom strongly suggests I take a nap after lunch and I am usually tired and I want to rest and sleep so I lay on the bed or couch and rest and snooze a little.

Well, I am almost finished with this week's school package. I am going to ask Mom to bring me more but I think they won't like me getting ahead too much and so maybe I can read or get some workbooks?

There is nothing on TV and I am bored. I wrote some but was not in to it today. I am hurting a little.

When Mom went back to work, Dad started taking JB to his office with him. Mom then picks him up after school. If Dad has an appointment that prevents JB from hanging out then Mrs. T keeps him. It seems to work well and Dad loves having JB around.

I had an idea. When Dad and JB were leaving this morning, I asked Dad to leave the baby with me. Dad was hesitant. He doesn't want me to be distracted from my school stuff and he doesn't want me not to get my rest. He also says it feels weird to "put all of that on me." He said he would talk to Mom and we would look at me doing it "occasionally" if I got stronger.

I am great with JB and I miss him. I used to be the one to feed him in the early morning and I watch him a lot. He likes me and I am crazy about him. Mom even says he sometimes responds better to me than her.

I hope I get to do this. I think it would help me, JB would love it and I am sure it would help Mom and Dad too.

I hate being like this. I am so out of shape but I can't run or work out yet. Admittedly, I do get tired easy and I am weak. I also still hurt. I am sort of restricted to the house (no, I am not in trouble) because I just do not like getting out right now and it makes me so tired. I went out this morning and tried to walk around the block but made it to about Rat's house before I had to come back in - I was hurting too bad and was dog tired.

Well, my low sodium, healthy chicken soup is ready (Yuck!) I am going to eat and sleep the afternoon away.

Anyone got any ideas for me?

Dude... get a hobby! Even if you are a self-professed nerd, there has to be something more interesting than a workbook. Get your parents to take you to a book store and find something interesting to read. Or order something from Amazon if you can't get out much.

If I read correctly that football is out of your life, you have an opportunity to do something new. What will it be??

I asked my dad and his post-surgery advice to you is just to keep yourself busy, accept that you have some limits on your body right now that will drive you crazy, but look for a little progress each day.

Hang in there. All three Dylans are cheering for you!

Dylan, football is gone for me. I am going to make a post and explain.

I talked to my parents about my boredom issues.

Dad brought me some coloring books and new crayons and colored pencils. Hey, I may be 15 but I still love coloring books. Mom suggested puzzle books and told me to go on Amazon and get me a few. So, I have book of word finds and a book of brain teasers coming.

Dad also subscribed to Netflix. I can get movies and TV series through the Wii now.

Also, I get JB on Friday!!! Mom and Dad said I could watch him 2 days a week right now starting next week. Mom thinks he will nap when I nap and I think she is right.

I feel better!

Hi PJ,

I'm glad things are looking up for you. Good luck with the puzzles.

The virtuals are offering to pop over and help you with the puzzles if you need any help.

Hi PJ,

It is very good to hear from you.

I know you must be bored but you can try to read a new book, (the DUNE saga are great fiction) or try a new hobby (drawing, painting, photography, ...).

I agree with you that taking care of JB would be a must, because you love him and he loves you too. But you must not get tired with it, you still have some time for completely healing.

About your time in Hospital, what happened you took so long to return from anesthesia, it was some kind of allergic reaction? And how about your future in sports ? Will you be able to practice one less demanding than Football ?

I wish you to recover soon and return to normal life.

God bless you

CZ

I posted about sports and football.

I was at a different hospital this time and a different anesthesia drug was used on me since I would be under longer. I am not sure if allergy is the right word but my body did not react well to it and I took way too long to wake up. The name of the drug is in my records and Mom has it written down so that I will never get it again.

Thanks for the well wishes and the nice words!
