I'm an older dad (not a GD, yet) of three grown children. I was spanked, but not much, growing up, and the same is true of my kids. However, in both cases, the potential (the "threat") was always there. And I've often wondered if a little more of it for real might have saved me from some of the "guilt and disappointment" sort of discipline that dominated my upbringing.

I was always amazed at the level of emotion and controversey that the spank/no spank question raised. I originally became interested in the original Spank with Love site, in that it seemed to be advocating a fairly reasonable use of spanking (although it had its moments).

The pundits all seemed to agree that spanking teenagers was destructive and to be avoided. Yet as Spank with Love collapsed (which was originally a forum primarily for spankers), and Spanking with Love appeared, it became a forum for a group of teens that are spanked, but dealing amazingly well with REALLY big adult issues - threatening illness, bereavement, paraental rejection, sudden death...It goes on and on, and the teens (and some "tweens")showed amazing maturity, intelligence, courage and committment. It has been very inspiring to watch. So while I didn't interact, I did feel like I was developing an appreciation for the quality and wonder of these kids lives.

And frankly, now I miss them. I've been around for a while. This will either make or kill the deal - I remember when a 12 year old named Lucy appeared, with the amazing idea that she wanted to convince her dad and not-yet step mom to spank her in lieu of other disciplinary approaches.

I'm well aware that it looks like you have had a recently discovered active troll in your midst for a long time. I stopped reading his posts awhile ago - in part because i wasn't interested by the continuous sports banter, and some of the same reasons Louisa mentioned about the unnatural way he focused on certain things, and also in that it had something of a Richie Rich aspect to it that I found annoying. Bet I really just dated myself there. (Someone is going to let his 16 year old wander around in a Shelby GT 350? Not my kind of car, but worth enough $$ to others that no one sane would let him do that.) If he did exist, I don't think I would have liked him.

But having had this recent experience, I will understand if you would prefer me to go away. I'd like to watch as you guys continue to relate and grow. You certainly are testament that spanking teens is not as destructive as some claim. Your core group is a very impressive group of young people. Anyway, there's not that much about spanking in the forum these days anyway, so my interest in you has to be more than salacious...

I'll try the other forum in a day or so....

Personally, it is not my call, but I don't see that you need to go away.

The only drawback for you at PB may be that we do a lot more through PM than open posting but I think you could still follow us by what we post.

Mr. Moderator -

I originally introduced myself above. When I went to the PB site it didn't like whitespace in the username and seemed to echo everything in lc. So "NE Dad" evolved to "nedad".

Could you let me know if you approve me? I'm not inclined to bang my head against the wall. Maybe that's why I didn't get spanked that much....

Thanks,
