It looks like you need to give your e-mail address to register there. However if you feel uneasy telling the moderator(s) about your actual identity you can also get another e-mail account to work with. I acquired such an account via http://dudmail.com/ (it can be set up to forward to your actual e-mail address).
I'm a bit confused, what kind of introduction is needed to participate there?
As for your password, it is essential that you never use the same password for two or more different things, that your password cannot be found in any book or dictionary, and that you can remember it, but nobody can guess it, not even your closest friends and family.

Mark, your dad's concerns are valid, however you are now more than 17 years old and will soon be 18, that means you will be fully free and responsible to decide about your entire communication, where you participate and what you tell about yourself. It's not good to tell too much about yourself in public so it's not advisable to tell about your exact location, for example, in a world-readable forum such as this one. So please listen to your parents but talk to them, one of your arguments could be that it's important for you now to learn to decide who is good to communicate with and who is not. And the best way to learn that is if they leave you this freedom and don't restrict your communication too much.
